The best time to learn about senior home care is before your family is making decisions under pressure.

Planning ahead does not mean arranging care your parent does not need. It can simply mean understanding available services, discussing preferences, identifying difficult parts of the week, and knowing who to call if circumstances change.

TrustBloom supports families before a crisis, during a sudden change, and as care needs evolve over time. Support may include respite, companionship, meal preparation, assistance with everyday routines, or help during the transition home after a hospital stay.

If you are planning for an aging parent in Beaumont, Leduc, or South Edmonton, send TrustBloom a private message or call us. A conversation now can help make future decisions more manageable.

I think many families are surprised to learn this. Care is important, but companionship is different. Sometimes it's simply about making sure someone has a meaningful connection when family can't always be there.

My parent lives in assisted living. Can companionship still make a difference?

Absolutely.

One thing many families don't realize is that even when a loved one moves into assisted living or long-term care, they may still benefit from companionship. Staff provide good care. Families provide love, but sometimes what families need is someone who has the time to:
✔ Sit and have a conversation.
✔ Play cards.
✔ Go for a walk.
✔ Look through old photographs.
✔ Share a coffee.
✔ Accompany them to an appointment.
✔ Simply spend quality one-on-one time together.

Many adult children wish they could visit more often, but work, distance and family responsibilities can make that difficult.
Having someone spend meaningful time with your loved one can provide reassurance for both of you.

If you've ever wondered whether companionship is still an option after someone moves into assisted living or long-term care, the answer is yes.

💙 A reminder for family caregivers:

You are allowed to be tired.
You are allowed to ask questions.
You are allowed to accept help.
You do not have to solve everything in one day.

Supporting someone you love is meaningful, but it can also be difficult. Your well-being matters too.

Yesterday was a great day to get out and enjoy Beaumont Culture Days!

It was nice running into Mayor Lisa Vandermaak and taking a moment for a photo while enjoying the festivities.

Being part of this community means a lot to me, both personally and through TrustBloom. I always enjoy opportunities like this to get out, meet people, have conversations and see what’s happening in our community.

Days like yesterday are a nice reminder of what makes Beaumont such a great place to live.

We can't afford home care... so what can we do?

This is one of the most common questions families ask me.

The first thing I tell them is this:
Don't assume your only choices are doing everything yourself or paying for full-time care.
There may be more options than you realize.
For example:
• You might only need a few hours of support each week rather than daily care.
• You may qualify for Veterans Affairs benefits if your loved one is an eligible Veteran.
• Some extended health or insurance plans may provide coverage for certain services.
• Alberta Home Care may provide publicly funded services depending on your loved one's needs, while private home support can help fill the gaps.
• Many families start small and increase support only if their loved one's needs change over time.

Every family's situation is different, which is why there isn't a one-size-fits-all answer.
If your first thought has been, "We can't afford home care," don't rule it out until you've explored your options.
Send me a private message or call 825-977-9016 and tell me what's happening.

I'll help you understand what options may be available, explain where TrustBloom fits, and if we're not the right solution, I'll point you in the right direction.

You don't have to figure it all out on your own.

A quick home-safety check for an aging loved one:

• Are walkways clear of clutter and loose rugs?
• Is there adequate lighting, especially at night?
• Are frequently used items within easy reach?
• Is there a safe way to enter and exit the bath?
• Are medications organized appropriately?
• Does someone check in regularly?

Small changes can make remaining at home safer and more comfortable.
