At PRIDE Security we have a strong focus on all aspects of safety, as we strive to send helpful reminders out to everyone during high safety seasonal concerns.
With crime on the rise, we always make time to pass some safety tips along to the public, with this posts main focus being a reminder to never leave your pets or children in you automobile on hot π₯΅ days, as it can be the worst decision you may ever make.
The misconception is many may think of what is 2 or 3 minutes inside a car π, I was just picking up milk and putting gas β½οΈ, well in those 2 to 3 minutes the temperature on a hot day will increase the temperature inside your car extremely quickly.
We put our handy digital thermometer to the test on a recent extreme heat day, where the temperature maxed out at 35 degrees Celsius at peak day.
We took pictures of the temperature rising every 3 to 4 minutes over a 20 minute span and these pictures clearly show how fast the temperature actually increased.
Over that 20 minute span the temperature inside the vehicle π had almost doubled, with drastic increases every few minutes of 5 to 8 degrees and our vehicle was so hot we could not tolerate stepping inside for even a few seconds, without opening all the windows first.
We left the windows closed and had parked it in direct sunlight, while we conducted this experiment. With that kind of heat, being in a vehicle would result in almost immediate perspiration starting, followed by panic setting in, from there itβs difficulty breathing with your heart starting to race.
The feeling of panic starts to intensify the longer you are inside and an overwhelming feeling of nausea begins.
Small children π¦ and π© dogs donβt have the ability to exit the vehicle without assistance from adults, so it is absolutely critical to put safety first.
If you think you might actually make more stops, that just going to a drive up window for a coffee, itβs safer to leave your pets at home π‘, that way they are safe and you can go about completing your errands knowing there is nothing to worry about.
Some other important safety tips are to make sure your cars are always locked, with windows not left open more than a couple of inches, as anything more can result in a criminal skidding their arm inside to unlock your car.
Itβs always a good idea to not have garage door openers visible, as that can lead to losing more of your valuables at home should your car be targeted.
Last tip is not leave things like backpackβs π,purses π, spare change or other valuables in plain eye view, as your vehicle can quickly become a crime of opportunity.
Be safe, practice safety and report all crimes.
