Egg donations happen when one person has a retrieval and gives their eggs to another person, so that they can have a child. The fertilized egg is then transferred into the recipient or surrogate via IVF.

Joanne’s Journey was born from an incredible woman named Joanne, whose legacy we strive to honour every day!

In 1987, Joanne became Canada’s first ever gestational surrogate. For the next 32 years that followed, Joanne became a champion for inclusion in alternative family-building rights; helping to change legislation and create the laws that make Canada one of the most sought-after places to pursue an alternative path to parenthood.
New Hope’s entire team was inspired to become surrogates and help the way we do because of the woman who started it all, Joanne.
