Trenval has been helping small business in the Belleville, Quinte West, Stirling-Rawdon, Tyendinaga and Deseronto region since 1987 and has invested more than $32 million in small businesses creating more than 4,000 jobs through loans, advisory services. Our Mission:

Trenval Business Development Corporation is a federally supported, not-for-profit Community Futures Development Corporation, administered by a volunteer Board of Directors in partnership with the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario committed to helping to develop and diversify the local economy through community strategic planning, business information, counselling and investment in small business. Our Mandate:

To support the creation of additional permanent private sector employment through the provision of advisory and investment services to small business. To assist in the establishment of new small businesses. To act as a catalyst between business and other community organizations with the intention of developing an economic climate in the Trenval area conducive to job creation. To promote economic growth throughout the areas serviced. What Trenval offers:

As a Canada-Ontario Business Service Centre (COBSC), we provide access to accurate, timely and relevant information for the business community on over 1,100 business-oriented programs and services offered by the federal and provincial governments. Online Learning – More than 125 hands-on courses online to help you move forward in your business. Click here for instructions and click here to browse the online learning website. Information Officers – Available to guide you through the wealth of programs and services that apply to the business community. Business links – The COBSC Web Site provides access to hundreds of carefully categorized links to government and business sites containing useful information as well as helpful business links for global commerce that will be of value to entrepreneurs. Resource Library – The Trenval library contains over 500 books written by business people who have “been there and done that”. Come in, sit in comfort in our resource area and do your business research, or sign out a book for a week.

Trenval Business Development Corporation would like to congratulate Jen French and the Legacy Events team on their Grand Opening!🎉

Jen came to Trenval in 2025 with a vision to bring something new to our community and help fill a significant gap in the local event landscape. Today, that vision has become a reality with the opening of Legacy Events, a new event space serving the Bay of Quinte Region.

Our Loans Manager, Eileen Brown, was onsite this morning to celebrate this achievement and personally congratulate Jen and her team on behalf of Trenval.

We’re thrilled to have been part of this exciting project and to have worked alongside our regional partners to help bring Jen’s vision to life. We’re excited to see Legacy Events become a new destination for celebrations, gatherings, and events in our community.

US Tariffs will undoubtedly have an impact on everyday Canadian small and medium sized businesses. That's why Trenval Business Development Corporation has come together with it's regional CanTrade delivery partners to re: launch the program. Together, we are stronger.

CANtrade™ financing has re-opened across eastern Ontario to support rural businesses navigating ongoing trade uncertainty.

Nventure, Trenval Business Development Corporation, Renfrew County Community Futures Development Corporation, Community Futures Peterborough and CFDC of North & Central Hastings and South Algonquin are once again working together to deliver CANtrade™ through the Government of Canada’s Community Futures Program.

Eligible businesses can access financing from $5,000 to $150,000 to support investments in productivity, supply chains, technology, talent, new markets and revenue diversification.

For established rural businesses looking to adapt, invest and strengthen long-term resilience, applications are now open until January 31, 2027.

It was a pleasure to welcome local business and community leaders to Trenval Business Development Corporation’s 39th Annual General Meeting last Thursday as we reflected on another year of supporting businesses, entrepreneurs, and communities across our region.

Last year, Trenval invested more than $4 million, leveraging over $14 million in additional investment throughout the region. We counselled 593 businesses, assisted 221, and contributed to an impact of 324 jobs.

Through the Small Business Centre, we fielded 821 inquiries, provided consultations to 338 businesses, impacted 32 jobs, and delivered 17 workshops and two events. Through our Summer Company program, we supported five businesses with $13,500 in grant funding, while Starter Company Plus supported 28 businesses with $115,196 in funding.

We were also proud to announce $43,200 in investments in local non-profit projects.

Thank you to our clients, partners, and community leaders for helping us continue to make an impact. We look forward to another year of supporting the people and businesses that make our region so strong!💚🌱
