Like a dryer filter, a washing machine filter collects lint and other things that shouldn't be there. You can't usually see it, but learning how to clean a washing machine filter isn't as easy as a dryer filter. Fortunately, it is not as difficult as it may seem.
📌 Clean the filter in the washing machine. If the filter housing is outside the washer, you can remove water by placing a towel under it. Use a damp cloth to clean the filter. To make sure the filter housing is clean, wipe it and look at it.
📌 Wet the filter. A basin of hot, soapy water (1 teaspoon of dishwashing liquid or detergent will do). Soak the filter for 10 minutes in the basin.
📌 Clean the filter. We told you that cleaning your washing machine filter is easy. You're almost done! Use a toothbrush or other soft-bristle brush to get rid of the dirt.
📌 Run the washing machine. After putting the washing machine filter in place, run the device for a short cycle to make sure that everything works. If you see water leaking out, remove the filter and reinstall it properly.
