Canada has kicked off 2026 with its second Express Entry draw and it’s a significant one.

✨ Program: Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
📊 CRS cut-off: 511
📩 Invitations issued: 8,000
📅 Draw date: January 7, 2026

This is a strong signal that in-Canada pathways remain a priority this year.

✨ Why this matters

The pattern continues. Candidates with Canadian work experience are well positioned. If you’re currently working, gaining experience, or recently transitioned from study to work, remember: every additional month counts.

💭 If your CRS is below 511 don’t panic.
Most successful applications aren’t built on one draw, but on strategy, timing, and readiness. Small, informed adjustments can make a meaningful difference.

Meet Canada’s new Minister of Immigration- Lena Metlege Diab, the Member of Parliament for Halifax West. She will now lead Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), succeeding former Immigration Minister Rachel Bendayan.

Lena Metlege Diab brings a wealth of political and legal experience to the immigration file.

She previously served as Nova Scotia’s Minister of Immigration from 2013 to 2021, becoming the first woman of Lebanese descent elected to a legislature in Canada and the first woman to serve as Attorney General and Minister of Justice in Nova Scotia’s history.

Diab made significant strides in developing Nova Scotia’s immigration program, including nominating record numbers of new permanent residents, introducing new immigrant entrepreneur streams, and pioneering the use of Express Entry-aligned pilots for provincial immigration.

With this shuffle , the direction of Canada’s immigration policy may shift yet again. However , the Prime Minister has expressed support for:

✔️ Scaling permanent immigration back to a sustainable level
✔️Supporting further economic immigration to Canada
✔️Increasing francophone immigration levels and
✔️Reducing temporary resident levels

Meet Canada’s new immigration minister - Honourable Rachel Bendayan!

Minister Bendayan was born and raised in a Moroccan-Jewish family. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Development Studies and a joint Bachelor of Civil Law/Juris Doctor.

She has an impressive career record and has served in various capacities including being a Parliamentary Secretary to the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance.

We wish her well on this new assignment and hope her tenure will usher in favourable reforms for the immigration sector.

Happy Independence Day Nigeria 🇳🇬.
Spent the day celebrating 🥳 with other licensed Nigerian immigration consultants in Ontario.

One thing we all had in common was to ensure we uphold the integrity of this profession and constantly educate our fellow Nigerians out there about the cons of using ghost 👻 consultants because a lot of Nigerians are ‘seeing shege’!!

Prior to entering politics, Miller was a practicing lawyer and also served in the Canadian Armed Forces. Miller was born and raised in Montreal.
