Our sincere gratitude goes out to all who participated for the International Villages Ambassador Dinner and Tànchàz, which took place on Saturday evening. The event's highlights included introducing our 2026 Hungarian Village Ambassador and the Tànchàz, where guests were able to learning traditional Hungarian dances. We were very pleased to welcome Daniel Nemeth, of the Hungarian Consulate as our special guest.

We take great pleasure in announcing Ginger Bridle as our 2026 Hungarian Village Ambassador, alongside Co-Ambassador Katia Chicerman. Ginger eloquently spoke about her Hungarian culture, and how the Hungarian Hall has impacted her personally and the Hungarian community.

Our thanks also go to Csángó Unchained for their musical contribution, Fábián Vilmos and Anne Berki for their instruction for the traditional dances, Chef Tim Biro and his team for their delicious meal, and the performers from the Brantford Hungarian Hall and Kossuth Folkdance group. Fábián Vilmos Tim Biro

Lastly thank you to our President, John Berki and his wife Lisa Berki, all of our Executive Members and especially to Liz Szilagyi for arranging this special event. Without them, this hall and this event would not be possible.

Tickets are sold out for this evening but we are super excited to be announcing our 2026 Hungarian Village Ambassador and Co- Ambassador. This event will be followed up with a Hungarian Tànchàz. For those of you unfamiliar with a Tànchàz it is an informal Hungarian folk dance and music event where participants learn and perform traditional dances to live music, rather than performing structured stage routines. It is guaranteed to be a fun evening for our community.

We are also thrilled to announce that we will have a special guest from the Hungarian Consulate joining us this evening. We welcome Daniel Nemeth.

See you all soon!!

Hungarian Independence Day (National Day) is celebrated on March 15th to commemorate the 1848 Revolution and War of Independence against Habsburg rule. It marks the struggle for democratic freedoms, marked by wearing the kokárda (ribbon rosette), patriotic speeches, and cultural events, especially in Budapest.
