🚨Watch out for this new scam! The FMCSA has been having a lot of tech issues with its Motus portal, with many carriers finding themselves blocked from accessing the portal.

As such, we have seen new websites cropping up offering to unlock the Motus portal for a fee.

⚠️This is a scam.

Only the FMCSA IT department is able to do this. Even though it is frustrating, as it is taking the FMCSA IT a long time to deal with all the ticket submissions, you will need to patient. Don't fall for the promises that these website are making for quick unblocking. The ones we've seen have reviews posted on their sites, but if you check them against their DOT numbers, they don't match up. Check out our blog as we have images and more info on the scams we have seen so far.

Be sure to share to help others avoid paying or giving personal information to these scam websites.

Another scam has been circulating as the Motus portal experiences tech issues. There are websites claiming to be able to unlock the the Motus portal for a fee with fake reviews. Only the FMCSA IT department can do this.

There is a new email scam starting to circulate now that the FMCSA's Motus portal has been live for a few months.

These new scams lead the person receiving the email to believe that they are out of compliance with the FMCSA, and some of these third party companies are charging access to the Motus portal- totally not needed, the Motus portal is free to register and access.

Reminders:
The FMCSA does NOT charge a fee to register or use the MOTUS portal

Only the carrier can register their company in the MOTUS portal due to the identity verification process that must take place

All third parties must be added to the carrier’s portal directly by the carrier before a third party can access their information

No third party can fix issues with the portal; it all must be done via the FMCSA’s IT department by submitting a ticket

The FMCSA has proactively waived noncompliance due to the failure to submit updated registration information like biennial as the FMCSA works on fixing existing problems. Carriers will NOT see DOT numbers deactivated for failure to file biennials. The FMCSA has not given a time frame for when this waiver will end.

Reminder that many scams come in the form of charging you for services or access to permits that are unnecessary. While a compliance company can serve your business by making sure your paperwork is filled out completely and accurately, can help you keep track of important filing dates, or making sure you aren’t purchasing permits that don’t apply to your operation (or conversely miss an important permit that does), the compliance company does not gate keep access to sites that are government run.

Watch out for scam emails targeting the FMCSA's newly launched Motus portal. Some are trying to charge for access to the portal, which is unnecessary, and can be accessed for free. Find out more details about the scams we've seen and how to spot them.
