The United States federal government has issued an executive order allowing commercial vehicles to use red-dyed gas on highways.

Canadian Carriers: We strongly advise you against fueling up with red-dyed fuel while in the U.S. as it still not legal in any Canadian province.

American Carriers: Use caution, as while the federal government has issued an exemption, each state must also issue their own exemption and so far only a few have issued their own executive orders.

Canadian carriers should hold off on using red-dyed fuel with the exemption in the United States. It is still illegal for use in commercial vehicles in Canada, and not all states have filed their own exemptions. It also does not stop you from having to file your IFTA taxes.
