The Children’s Safety Village of Brant is a place where children ages 4 to 12, regardless of their level of ability or disability learn the fundamentals of safety and awareness. Programs such as fire prevention, smoke alarms, traffic and bicycle safety and stranger awareness are taught. Children are encouraged to demonstrate skills they have learned in a miniature town that is complete with sidewa

lks, roadways, street signs, traffic lights, stop signs and a working railway crossing. The children navigate their way through the village by foot, on bicycles or in small battery powered vehicles. All activities at the village are supervised by police officers, firefighters and our trained community volunteers. The Children's Safety Village of Brant provides a safe and realistic environment for children to understand and apply the safety lessons they have learned.

Educating youth on the importance of safety is a key role of our Community Safety and Crime Prevention Unit. BPS School Safety Officers educate students at the Children's Safety Village of Brant about personal safety issues. They assist with helmet fitting, bicycle safety and driving activities in our miniature village and also instruct children on safety walks. Safety classes run from October to June each year with over 1,000 safety patrollers being trained at the Village each September.
