Q1 is in the books. Now, it’s time for tough choices.

The first quarter of 2025 is already behind us, and as I reflect on my own business—and help my clients do the same—one theme keeps coming up: tough choices.

Analyzing results and setting the course for the rest of the year isn’t always easy, but clarity comes when we ask the right questions:
🔹 Are all your revenue streams truly profitable? If one area is consistently carrying another, it may be time to reassess your offerings.
🔹 Do you need a different solution for certain expenses? A more economical option for big-ticket items or cutting unused smaller costs could free up cash flow.
🔹 Are you planning for pay increases? Budgeting ahead and defining clear criteria ensures you’re prepared.
🔹 Do your big projects have a clear path forward? The right resources and strategic planning should already be in motion.

These aren’t just numbers on a spreadsheet. They’re decisions that shape your future. If the answers aren’t clear, it’s time to dig in.

I’m making tough choices in my own business, just like my clients. What’s one tough choice you’re making in Q2?

Take a moment to:
• Celebrate your wins (yes, even the small ones!)
• Learn from what didn't work
• Identify your unexpected victories
• Understand where you need to pivot
Remember: The clearest path forward starts with knowing exactly where you stand today.

Stay Focused and Finish Strong: Tips for Business Owners in December

The holiday season is almost here, and for many business owners, it's the busiest time of the year. While it's tempting to dive into celebrations and relax, the reality is that taking your foot off the gas now could leave you scrambling to get back on track in January.

As the year wraps up, it’s easy to overlook your usual operational processes. But consistency is key—even during the holidays.

Here are my key dos and don'ts to help you stay on track:

✅ Stick to your daily and weekly review meetings
These are especially important if your fiscal year ends on December 31st.
• Daily: Focus on the processes that directly deliver your products or services. While it’s fun to turn your morning team meeting into a coffee and baked goods session, make sure you cover the business basics first.
• Weekly: Review key business metrics and track progress on your 90-day plan. It can be tempting to turn your weekly review into an office holiday party or cancel it altogether due to peak vacation season. Commit to covering your scorecard results and reviewing the progress of weekly action plan items.

❌ Avoid kicking off new major projects
Now is not the time to start new initiatives. Save any big launches or projects for January, when you can give them your full attention.

✅ Schedule time for future planning
If you haven’t already, block out time to work on your 2025 goals and strategy. The start of the new year will be much smoother if you’re prepared!

Here's a quick update on how I'm tracking toward my 2024 goals – and what’s next for 2025.
As promised, I’m sharing a progress update on my year end results review. The short answer: Yes, I hit my target. My primary goal for 2024 was to grow my business revenue by 3x, and I'm on track to achieve exactly that!

So, how did I do it? Here’s a breakdown:

1️⃣ Set an Ambitious Action Plan:
I started the year with a bold plan projecting 4x growth. Why? Because not every action will deliver the expected results, so it’s critical to over-index on taking consistent action.

2️⃣ Track & Analyze Regularly:
Success requires ongoing monitoring. I track my progress with a simple Excel scorecard that I update monthly. This keeps my goals top of mind and allows for quick course corrections.

3️⃣ Focus on Leading Indicators:
It’s not just about the final outcome – it’s about the leading inputs. For example, I forecasted the number of projects I needed to complete in order to hit my revenue target. Setting these expectations early helped me stay on track.

4️⃣ Add Metrics as You Go:
You don’t need to track everything from the start. I’ve added metrics along the way, such as tracking repeat clients, which now accounts for a third of my business. This ongoing refinement helps me stay agile and adjust to new insights.

In short, setting measurable goals, tracking progress, and being flexible with adjustments has been key to my success this year.

"Do you take your own advice?"

This powerful question from one of my coaches stopped me in my tracks. My honest response? "Mostly, but I could do better."

As I'm encouraging clients to start planning for 2025, I realized it's time to practice what I preach. While strategic planning can feel overwhelming, I've found success by keeping it simple with just two key questions:
1. Are your business key results aligned with your vision?
2. If not, what specific strategies or actions will bridge that gap in 2025?

This week, I'm walking my talk - diving into my own business scorecard and mapping out 2025.

What about you? Have you started thinking about next year's plan?
