Custom isn't always the answer, and we'll tell a customer that directly.
A straightforward, low-complexity application in a controlled environment, with no expansion plans and a part number that already exists, is a reasonable fit for a stock enclosure. Paying for custom engineering you don't need isn't technical rigour, it's waste.
The decision point is simple: does your environment, your layout, or your growth plan ask for anything the stock unit wasn't designed to handle? If yes, custom pays for itself. If no, don't overbuild it.
