It looks great on paper. Then demo starts. And the contractor who priced only what they could see now has a choice: tell you the truth and fix it properly, or close it back up and protect their margin.

The room your family walks through most is probably the one you have never renovated.

It is not the front door. For most Burlington families, it is the garage. Every morning. Every grocery run. Every school pickup. And it is usually the most neglected space in the house: bare drywall, cold concrete, tools piled in corners, nowhere to charge the car.

On our Donegal Drive project, the garage got the same standard as every other room.

Adding a bathroom to the front of the house meant new plumbing running over the garage, so the ceilings came down and everything was properly insulated. While it was open, the floors were epoxied, the drywall replaced, slat walls installed for every tool and accessory, and power added for the clients' EV. Right beside it, a small powder room tucked where garage access usually sits was kept, brightened, and refreshed with new millwork, a new vanity, and a new Toto toilet.

That was the question our Donegal Drive clients kept asking themselves. They did not have a designer. Every cabinet, every finish, every layout choice in a kitchen they would live with for decades was on their shoulders.

You have watched us open this house up. This is the finish line.

Jay walked through the Donegal Drive front door more than once while this project was underway, showing you what we found and what we were about to do. Today he walked back in, and every main space in this 50-year-old Burlington home is finished.

The foyer that used to be crowded by a traditional closet now opens up around full-wall custom millwork. The dark, steep stairs are gone, replaced in solid white oak with glass integration. The kitchen is completely rebuilt around a walnut island. Upstairs, a brand new primary ensuite exists where a spare bedroom used to be. And the family room is anchored by a stone fireplace flanked with custom walnut millwork.

The most important part of this kitchen is the part you will never see.

When we opened up the Donegal Drive kitchen during demo, the vaulted ceiling was hiding significant insulation and venting problems. The kind of problems most homeowners never find out about until the heating bill arrives, or the room never quite feels comfortable, or something fails years later behind a beautiful finish.

So the entire ceiling came down.

Properly insulated. Venting corrected. Lighting relocated and layouts finalized before a single sheet of drywall went back up. Only then did the beautiful part begin: a walnut island with porcelain tops, a solid surface backsplash running continuously up from the countertops, white oak floors flowing from the kitchen into the dining area, and a window extended down to open the whole space to more light.

Most Burlington homeowners buy a house. Our Donegal Drive clients wanted to buy a home.

They moved to Burlington in late 2025 looking for the right 50-year-old property to put their own spin on. They did their research. They watched our videos. They read every testimonial. Every single space in this home got rethought from the ground up.

The foyer lost its traditional closet entirely so a massive piece of custom millwork could take over, hiding coats, shoes, the Dyson, and every piece of daily life that normally crowds the entry of a Burlington home. The wood burning fireplace was pivoted to a safer, more practical gas insert with a stunning stone surround and custom walnut millwork flanking both sides.
