I used to see designers only pull out their phones on install day or at a photoshoot. Those were the moments that felt “okay” to show on Instagram.

And for a long time…that was the norm.

But things have shifted. Content feels a lot more real now, and honestly, I love that for all of us. It’s not just the big reveal anymore — it’s what’s happening along the way.

The part I hear all the time now is… what do I actually film? I know you’re not standing around thinking about content, you’re working. You’re in it. Making decisions, moving things around, figuring things out. Filming doesn’t always cross your mind, or you’re not sure if it’s even worth capturing.

So think of this as your cheat sheet. Not for more content, just so you’re not overthinking it and it starts to feel second nature.

People are checking Instagram to see what’s happening, and when you start sharing those real-time moments, your work just feels more real.

So next time you’re at the studio or out and about, start here. A few clips is usually more than enough.

Save this for later or send it to someone on your team who’s always asking what to film.

Most of the designers we work with were posting to Instagram themselves… posting when they could, thinking about it more than they wanted to.

I love that we can take it off their hands, and off their mind.

The Living Luxe Design Show did not disappoint 🥂

On our minds, so it’s off yours.

I say this all the time… and it usually surprises people… I’m not really here to help you post more on Instagram.

The designers we work with already have the work. The projects are there, they’re busy, and business is good. Instagram just ends up being the thing that gets pushed to the side… or it’s something they’re pulling together quickly when they have a minute.

When we take over an account, I’m not adding more for the sake of it. I’m just shaping what’s already there. Planning it out, writing the captions, helping you figure out what to capture next so it’s not all sitting in your head.

The biggest thing I hear isn’t even about how it looks., but it feels handled now.

Have any questions? Let me know.

I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately, not even just with Instagram… just in general. How easy it is to take something that’s actually pretty straightforward and turn it into something that feels way bigger than it needs to be.

I see it all the time, especially with designers. They have the work, it’s beautiful, it already says a lot… but then it turns into how do I use it, what should I say, is this good enough… and it just sits there. Their camera roll is basically a gold mine for content… they just don’t use it. 🙂

And the funny thing is, most of the time the content is already there.

It’s in the in-between moments. The quick clips you almost don’t think to take. Walking into a space, setting something down, a small detail you noticed.

That’s usually what starts to make creating content feel easier.

You’re not trying to come up with something… you’re just paying attention to what’s already happening.

And when it clicks, it feels a lot lighter. Like you’re not forcing it anymore, you’re just capturing it as you go.

So let this be your reminder to film the small moments because that’s the content.

If you’ve ever posted a project and felt like it should have landed better, try this 👇🏼

But first, save this so you remember it next time you’re writing a caption.

If we haven’t met… hey, I’m Wendy. I help interior designers turn their Instagram into something that actually brings in the right clients.

Most designers don’t need better photos, they need a better way to talk about what they’re already sharing.

Try this with your next post ⬇️

Instead of describing the space, tell the client story

what they wanted
what wasn’t working
what they were hoping for

It gives people something to connect to right away. Now it’s not just a kitchen or living room, it’s a situation they can see themselves in.

This is usually the shift between “that looks nice” and “this feels like the right fit.”

There are two other ways to approach the exact same photo that land just as well. Same photo, completely different impact.

Comment STORIES and I’ll send them to you 🤍

I’ve been leaning into a much deeper way of sharing this year.

While I love connecting with you here on the feed, my heart (and my best insights) usually ends up in your inbox. This past quarter, I’ve shared what it feels like to find real support in your design business, the difference between just posting and building a true brand presence, and the patterns that lead to inquiries from premium clients.

I’m so happy with the conversations these emails have started so far.

I don’t want you to miss the next one. I already have a few layers of discussion ready for Q2, and I would love for you to be part of the community that gets those notes first.

If you’ve been looking for a bit more depth and a lot more soul in your creative business journey, the door is open.

The link in my bio will get you on the list. I can’t wait to land in your inbox soon.

I know remembering to grab a video can sometimes be the hardest thing when you’re an Interior Designer focused on the 1,000 details of a project. But those 7-second clips are the building blocks of your firm’s digital presence.

If “filming as you go” feels like one more thing on an already full plate, try the “Content Block” method:

🗓️ Pick one morning a week (or one site visit) to be your designated “content creation” time. Set a timer for 30 minutes to strictly film B-Roll (like in this reel) — detail shots, material swatches, and wide room pans.

Many of our clients find it’s much easier to be a “creator” for 30 minutes than it is to try and remember it all week long.

If you want your business to pull new people in with Reels — without spending your week figuring out what to film — now you know what to do.

💾 Save this so you don’t forget you have a “relief” button.
➡️ Send it to a designer who is drowning in site visits and has zero time for filming.
✨ Follow to see how we take the digital heavy lifting off your plate entirely.

The biggest gap I see is that too many designers rely on the photos to do all the work.

And to be fair, the work is strong. But beautiful visuals only get someone to pause.

What actually moves things forward is what people feel when they’re there.

It happens quickly too.

Someone lands on your feed, scrolls a bit, maybe taps into a post or two… and they’ve already decided if they’re staying or moving on.

What we’re really looking for in those first few moments is a feeling of connection. Not just to your portfolio, but a sense of “this feels right for me,” “I’m in the right place,” or simply feeling at ease in your world.

That’s the part that builds trust.

It’s not just what you’re showing. It’s how it comes across.

And that’s what shifts someone from
“I like this” → “I want to work with them.”

I read something recently that stayed with me — especially as I think about work.

The people who build successful, sustainable businesses don’t start the year by adding more. They start with clarity → knowing what doesn’t need their attention just as much as what does.

I’ve been thinking about this through the lens of how we show up online. When something is truly supported, it stops asking for your attention, and that’s when ease shows up. ✨ Not because you’re doing less, but because you’re choosing more intentionally.

Just something to sit with as you step into the year. And, if this is the energy you’re channeling this year, you’re in the right place.
