British Columbia has announced a new BC PNP strategy for 2026.
The update confirms that the BC PNP will prioritize selected occupations in healthcare, education, childcare, veterinary care, and key skilled trades. It also says at least 35% of nominations are expected to go to candidates working outside Metro Vancouver.
The announcement also confirms several important program changes:
• the ELSS stream is officially closed
• no new student streams will be launched

Canada has extended the CUAET work permit measures for eligible Ukrainians and their family members in Canada.
Eligible applicants now have until March 31, 2027 to apply for an open work permit extension of up to 3 years. This update is especially important because it may also help some people who did not previously qualify under the earlier arrival cut-off. In some cases, Ukrainians and eligible family members who arrived in Canada between April 1, 2024 and December 31, 2024 may now qualify if they meet the requirements.
