USW Local 1944 We are Canada’s Information and Communications Tech Union—here to support fair and equitable treatment for all! Guidelines:
1. Social media is not private.

Nous sommes le syndicat des techs de l'information et des communications du Canada—ici pour soutenir un traitement juste et équitable pour tous USW LOCAL 1944 SOCIAL MEDIA GUIDELINES: United Steelworkers Local 1944 is a democratic organization, and welcomes communications and feedback from members at all levels of the Union. Just as the Union strives to create respectful work environments and open-minded, welcoming spaces at events and meetings, these goals apply to social media outlets and accounts. Respectful behavior is expected of all members participating in, or commenting on, USW social media accounts or its content.
2. USW Local 1944 works hard to combat discriminatory behaviour – whether unconscious or explicit. Comments will be removed and users could be banned that use language or imagery that is discriminatory, hateful, or violent towards identifiable groups or individuals or that incites others to discriminate, practice hate or violence.
3. Harassment, personal attacks, or abuse toward individuals or organizations, will not be tolerated. While differing opinions should be expressed and are welcomed, it must be done in a respectful manner that does not include personal attacks. Repeated offenses will cause a user to be banned.
4. Comments containing profanities will be removed.
5. The social media accounts of United Steelworkers Local 1944 must not be used for individual commercial purposes.
6. Do not libel your employer (or anyone else).
7. Always keep in mind that posting and information-sharing is immediate and can be permanent.
8. No local union leader, steward or member should have any expectation of privacy, including from employers.
9. Occasionally, USW and USW Local 1944 will share content from other organizations. This does not constitute a wholesale endorsement of the organization and USW and USW Local 1944 bear no responsibility for this or other content by the organization. This health and safety scholarship award is available to children and grandchildren of any Steelworker member in Canada. Set up to honour the memory of David Ellis, this scholarship fights to ensure all young workers come home from work healthy and safe.

June 21st, 2026 is the 30th National Indigenous Peoples Day. It's a time to recognize and celebrate the traditions, cultures and contributions of First Nations, Inuit and Métis.

In honour of the 30th NIPD, we are highlighting the Indigenous peoples effort to revitalize and sustain their languages. In 2019, the Indigenous Language Act was established to protect the 70 distinct languages and 12 separate language categories, in Canada.

En l'honneur de cette 30e Journée nationale des peuples autochtones, nous mettons en avant les efforts déployés par les peuples autochtones pour revitaliser et préserver leurs langues. En 2019, la Loi sur les langues autochtones a été adoptée afin de protéger les 70 langues distinctes et les 12 catégories linguistiques distinctes présentes au Canada.
