Just as the Union strives to create respectful work environments and open

-minded, welcoming spaces at events and meetings, these goals apply to social media outlets and accounts. Respectful behavior is expected of all members participating in, or commenting on, USW social media accounts or its content.
2. USW Local 1944 works hard to combat discriminatory behaviour – whether unconscious or explicit. Comments will be removed and users could be banned that use language or imagery that is discriminatory, hateful, or violent towards identifiable groups or individuals or that incites others to discriminate, practice hate or violence.
3. Harassment, personal attacks, or abuse toward individuals or organizations, will not be tolerated. While differing opinions should be expressed and are welcomed, it must be done in a respectful manner that does not include personal attacks. Repeated offenses will cause a user to be banned.
4. Comments containing profanities will be removed.
5. The social media accounts of United Steelworkers Local 1944 must not be used for individual commercial purposes.
6. Do not libel your employer (or anyone else).
7. Always keep in mind that posting and information-sharing is immediate and can be permanent.
8. No local union leader, steward or member should have any expectation of privacy, including from employers.
9. Occasionally, USW and USW Local 1944 will share content from other organizations. This does not constitute a wholesale endorsement of the organization and USW and USW Local 1944 bear no responsibility for this or other content by the organization.
