Last week, BC Wildfire requested our Tender to assist with the fire in Summerland. Thank you for Daryl and Mike for answering the call to leave right away to help with the fight. Stay Safe Gentleman!

We are happy to see our community slowly come back to their properties! We are also excited for our neighbours to the north who have their Order lifted today and Highway 97 reopened!
Please remember we are all still under Evacuation Alert and conditions may change so please keep yourself informed through the TNRD and B.C. Wildfire communication channels.
Crews are still working up at the Rim Lake Fire so please expect crews and equipment to continue to access through 8 mile at the top of the hill. Our Neighbor, St’uxwtéws Bonaparte First Nation, are still under Evacuation Order along Hwy 99 and our hearts are with their community at this time.

We continue to do patrols with our Bush Truck in the evenings to Hwy 97 for that extra set of eyes as crews are finished for the day.

We need to remain diligent and continue to support each other through these times!

IMPORTANT NOTICE TO RESIDENTS REMAINING IN THE EVACUATION ORDER AREA

The Loon Lake Volunteer Fire Department understands that some residents have chosen to remain on their properties despite the current Evacuation Order. We recognize this is a difficult and personal decision, and we appreciate your commitment to protecting your homes.

If you have chosen to stay, we ask that you do so responsibly.

Please remain on your own property and avoid unnecessary travel throughout the community. Roadways must remain clear for emergency vehicles, heavy equipment, and BC Wildfire Service operations. Driving through affected areas, gathering to watch firefighting activities, or visiting neighbouring properties can interfere with emergency operations and place both you and first responders at unnecessary risk.

Residents remaining in the evacuation area should:

* Stay on their own property.
* Keep roads and driveways clear for emergency access.
* Follow all directions from emergency personnel.
* Be prepared to leave immediately if conditions change or directed to do so.

An Evacuation Order is issued only when there is an immediate threat to life and safety. Those who choose not to comply with emergency directions or who interfere with emergency operations may be subject to enforcement actions, including removal from the area, fines, or other legal consequences under applicable provincial legislation.

Our firefighters are working tirelessly alongside BC Wildfire Service and our emergency partners to protect lives, homes, and our community. Your cooperation is essential to ensuring they can do their work safely and effectively.

We are now under Evacuation Order! Please read the below release for your guidance.

The TNRD has expanded an Evacuation Order due to the Pear Lake wildfire, effective July 31, 2026 at 11:00 am.

Approximately 375 addressed properties have been newly placed on Evacuation Order, including Loon Lake and properties on Highway 97 from Loon Lake Road to past Scottie Creek Road.

There are now approximately 1,494 addressed TNRD properties on Evacuation Order due to this fire, including all properties at South Green Lake and all other areas previously placed on Evacuation Order.

Loon Lake Community Update

Hello Loon Lakers,

Your firefighters continue to closely monitor the wildfire situation while working alongside BC Wildfire and the Thompson-Nicola Regional District (TNRD).

As many of you know, the fire is slowly continuing to grow as it finds available fuel on the plateau above our community.

Our crews are actively patrolling the community, assisting anyone who may need support, and maintaining a high level of readiness. We have a strong roster of firefighters prepared to respond to any emergency within Loon Lake.

We encourage everyone to stay informed by closely following official updates from BC Wildfire and the TNRD, as they will provide the most current and accurate information regarding the fire and any changes that may affect our community.

BC Wildfire aircraft are actively using Loon Lake for water operations. If you see or hear an approaching aircraft, please move to the shoreline immediately and stay well clear of its flight path. If you are in the area where an aircraft needs to operate, the pilot may perform a low flyby to alert you. Please help these highly skilled pilots by giving them the space they need to safely protect our community.

A reminder that drones must never be flown anywhere near wildfire operations. Even a single drone will immediately ground firefighting aircraft, delaying critical suppression efforts and putting lives and property at greater risk.

Through great efforts of all those selling 50/50 tickets for the LLFD, we were able to retrieve all July tickets for a successful draw. Congratulations to the Pencer family who were our winner! Shout out to all LLFD members who are aiding in surrounding wildfires. As a community, we are winners to have an amazing team fighting fires. Dangerous and courageous hard work! Thank you for everything you are doing to keep our community safe!!!
