Real talk about why some reconciliations never actually feel resolved, no matter how many times you try.

Your mind can only close a chapter when it understands what really happened. If the other person rewrites the story, minimizes what they did, or avoids ownership entirely, your mind is left holding two competing versions of reality. One is the experience you lived. The other is the version you're being asked to accept. That mismatch keeps the wound open, because your mind can't file something away that still doesn't add up. 🪞

This is why a surface-level "let's move on" so often leaves a quiet ache underneath. You can share a dinner table, trade friendly texts, and still feel the old tension, because the actual repair never happened. Repair requires honesty about what occurred, and without it, reconciliation is mostly rearranging furniture around the same problem.

You're allowed to want an honest account before you reopen the door. That's a reasonable standard, and your mind's resistance to skipping it is information worth respecting.
