I attended a funeral a couple of months ago. A neighbor who had immigrated from Poland as a child had passed away. While listening to her family describe her life I realized that today's young people (not all) think the older people around them had all the things they have now when they were starting out. Her story was that her father and brother moved to Canada to get a job and get things ready for her and her mother several months later. They lived in a basement suite, a family of 4 and built a life for themselves her in Calgary with joy. I cannot imagine suggesting to some entitled brat that they live in a basement suite, live frugally in order to save for a down payment. I was so broke at university I had to choose between tampons and contact solution at the end of the winter term. It never occurred to me that I should ask my single mother for help - I was a grown up.

Left wing/activists sycophants are happy to parrot whatever the MSM is blowing up their nether regions. When anyone tries to question the noise they are making they resort to name calling. They have no facts, no data but boy they sure have pit bull tenacity. I believe this is a product of our education system. Children are discouraged from thinking but encouraged to march to the MSM drummer and they are supported in bullying and shaming any child who tries to question.

Things I heard before I took my kids out of the public system to homeschool:

"There is no such thing as a C drive" librarian and teacher
"Your parents are killing us all by using gas" teacher
"It is okay to bully if the bully says he have been bullied in the past"
"You don't understand teaching (although I was teaching at university)" teacher and principal
"I was afraid the boy was going to punch me" Grade 4 music teacher

I am qualified to teach in Texas public schools (I tested in with my background and degree) but not in Alberta public schools. The Teachers Association holds the reins very tightly. If you were wondering: private schools get government funding but only if they hire Alberta teachers.

Food for thought: if you only know HOW to teach but not WHAT to teach please explain how children can learn.

Ever notice the left has no plan other than to provide free stuff (only to illegals, those who chose not to work and those who think their services are vastly undervalued) from some magical place (your wallet).
The reality is that the left take from the middle class, set up endless NGOs and non profits to distribute these funds to, you guessed it, themselves.
Canada is missing billions that have been siphoned off and handed over to the politicians and don't get me started on the Ukraine.
The left never questions how different Canada is from what it was even 30 years ago. Where has this explosion of drug users and homeless people come from? Don't bother with the "they closed the mental institutions" - that cannot explain the numbers.
If you refuse to question the political elite and hold them to account and you feel you should have everything paid for without ever having to work for it you are a leftie.

Heartbreaking news out of Britain.
Henry Nowak, an 18 year old university student was murdered by Vikram Digwa a 23 yr old Sikh man. When police arrived Digwa claimed the boy bleeding on the sidewalk had used a racial slur (later footage showed this to be untrue). Police then cuffed Nowak and dragged him while he was saying, "I can't breathe." They offered no care and allowed Henry to die.
This is the result of all the idiotic racism that is being claimed.
And to be perfectly honest, I could care less if Henry had said anything offensive - that does not give either the right to stab someone or to ignore them bleeding to death. Digwa should be put to death. The police all fired for their part in this. But it won't happen. Digwa will be quietly released and the police will continue on. The sad state of western civilization.

I came across this a week or so ago. I loved the Seekers so already knew their work. But this song really brought home to me why I am such a staunch supporter of separation. This song reminded me of how I used to feel as a Canadian. How proud I was and how I felt so connected to this land. My mom was a 6th generation Canadian, my Dad a British import. Over the years I have realized that I am no longer considered a Canadian - I am some kind of colonizer and have no rights to this land that I have worked so hard for my whole life. This land, supposedly, belongs to the indigenous and not me. Everything I have built can be given away to those who built none of it.

Wonder why there are so many supporters of independence? Look no further than your own feelings as to how you fit in Canada.

In 2014, Judith Durham and The Seekers concluded their Farewell concert tour. It's clear from the fan videos (taken in Australia and London) that they were i...

I think the real questions we have to ask ourselves is, "Just how far will I allow the government to push me before I stand up?" "How much will I allow the government to drive away opportunity for young people while making things more expensive for them?"

I'm there folks. Alberta needs to leave Canada. It might not be pretty and it will take hard work - my sleeves are rolled up.

But we cannot continue to rob our children and grandchildren of a future. We need to bring back research, development and foster questioning minds.

Or we can continue on our path of self destruction comrade...

Good morning and Happy April 30 - we are heading to summer! Yay!

Daily dose of reality: CO2 does not drive climate and that has been shown for over 4.5 billion years.

Still liking Carney? Or still making excuses?

Mark Carney and the Liberals have given Canada the worst household debt in the G7.

Higher Liberal taxes, more red-tape and out-of-control inflation are making things worse.
