You've talked to customers. You understand the problem. But how do you turn those insights into actual sales conversations?

That's the focus of Sales 101: From Insight to Outreach, one of the newest sessions in the Platform Labs workshop series.

Many founders get stuck between customer discovery and customer acquisition. They know the problem they're solving, but struggle to start outreach, build a pipeline, and create enough momentum to generate real opportunities.

This hands-on workshop is designed to help bridge that gap.

You'll learn how to:
🔹 Turn customer insights into compelling value statements
🔹 Build confidence in early sales conversations
🔹 Develop practical outreach habits and cadence
🔹 Handle resistance and keep conversations moving
🔹 Create a simple system to track and manage your pipeline

And you'll leave with more than just ideas.
✔ A sharpened value proposition
✔ A first-draft outreach script you can use immediately
✔ A simple pipeline tracking framework to support your next steps

If you've validated a problem and are ready to start talking to customers, this workshop is built for you.

This week at Tech Talent Tuesdays, the conversation focused on a shift many organizations are already experiencing:
AI is changing how work gets done — and raising the bar for how value is created.

Together with Kelsey Hahn from Monark and Jihoon (JJ) Jung from White Whale Analytics, we explored what AI adoption looks like in practice and how teams are adapting as technology becomes embedded into day-to-day workflows, decision-making, and operations.

A few themes stood out:
🔹 AI is increasing productivity, but also raising expectations for talent and performance
🔹 Work is shifting from task ex*****on to outcome ownership
🔹 Judgment, adaptability, communication, and continuous learning are becoming stronger differentiators
🔹 As technical ex*****on becomes more accessible, problem definition and critical thinking matter more than ever
🔹 Smaller teams can move faster with AI-enabled workflows, but leadership, culture, and systems remain essential

One idea surfaced throughout the discussion:
The advantage isn't simply knowing how to use AI. It's knowing how to apply it to solve the right problems and create meaningful outcomes.

Thank you to Kelsey and JJ for sharing practical insights from their work, and to everyone who joined us for another thoughtful conversation on the future of work in Calgary's innovation ecosystem.

🔜 Next up: June 9 — AgTech Career Showcase

AI isn't just changing the tools we use. It's changing what's expected of us at work.

Across Calgary's tech ecosystem, organizations are rethinking how work gets done as AI becomes embedded into everyday workflows. Tasks that once took hours can now be completed in minutes. But as productivity increases, so do expectations.

The conversation is no longer just about AI adoption. It's about how teams adapt, where human judgment creates value, and what skills matter most when work shifts from task ex*****on to outcome ownership.

Join us on May 26 for AI Reshaping the Workplace, a discussion grounded in real insights from employers navigating these changes today.

You'll hear from:
🔹 Kelsey Hahn, CEO & Co-Founder of Monark
Drawing on experience supporting more than 60 organizations and 20,000 leaders, Kelsey will share how AI is influencing performance, organizational effectiveness, and the future of work.
🔹 Jihoon "JJ" Jung, Systems Engineer at White Whale Analytics
JJ will offer a practitioner's perspective on working inside an AI-forward company, including how teams are applying AI in real-world projects and why customer-centric thinking remains a critical advantage.

We'll explore:
✔ How AI is shifting work from task ex*****on to outcome ownership
✔ How organizations are adapting workflows and team structures
✔ Where productivity gains are real — and where they're often misunderstood
✔ What this means for individuals looking to stay relevant and create value in a changing workplace

In a world driven by AI and global competition, the old rules of who gets to build a tech company no longer apply. You don’t need a deep computer science degree to create a meaningful solution—you need domain expertise, an understanding of real problems, and the courage to begin.

If you’ve been sitting on an idea, wondering if there’s a place for you in Calgary’s innovation ecosystem, this is your sign. You belong in this room. ✨

Join us on June 10 at the Platform Innovation Centre for a free evening celebrating the Platform Pre-Accelerator Community Showcase.

Watch 17 local founders take the KPMG Pitch Stage to share their honest, raw journeys of turning early traction into structured ex*****on over the last 9 weeks.

They face the same messy middle of building that you do. See their progress, hear their stories, and leave realizing one profound truth: if they can build it, you can too.

Last year’s event sold out with more than 1,000 founders, investors, operators, and ecosystem partners coming together during Stampede for one of Calgary tech’s biggest nights of the year.

This year, we’re making room for even more of the community at the National Saloon Tent — bringing the energy of Calgary Stampede together with the momentum of Calgary’s innovation ecosystem.

If this event is already on your summer calendar, now’s the time to lock in your spot before prices increase.

Last week at Tech Talent Tuesdays, the conversation focused on a challenge many organizations are now navigating:
It’s not necessarily becoming harder to find talent. It’s becoming harder to evaluate it.

Together with Caileigh Sanderson from Helcim and Rachel Taylor from Amrop Rosin, we explored how AI is reshaping hiring, readiness, and what actually makes someone stand out in today’s workplace.
A few themes that stood out:
🔹 AI has weakened many traditional hiring signals, making resumes and polished applications harder to assess
🔹 Employers are increasingly looking for judgment, ownership, and learning agility
🔹 Proof of work and real-world thinking matter more than rehearsed answers
🔹 Communication, curiosity, and commercial awareness are becoming stronger differentiators
🔹 Knowing how to use AI is becoming expected — knowing when not to rely on it is what stands out

One idea came up repeatedly throughout the conversation:

The strongest candidates aren’t using AI to avoid thinking. They’re using it to deepen thinking.
Thank you to Caileigh and Rachel for grounding the discussion in the real hiring dynamics organizations are navigating right now, and to everyone who joined us for another thoughtful Tech Talent Tuesdays conversation.

🔜 Next up: May 26 — AI Reshaping the Workplace

AI is no longer a side tool or future concept. It’s becoming embedded directly into workflows, decision-making, and how value is created across organizations.

This upcoming session will explore what that shift actually looks like inside teams today — from changing expectations and evolving workflows to the growing move from task ex*****on to outcome ownership.
