Starting July 2, Alberta’s new driver’s licence & ID cards will combine your health number and citizenship marker into one secure card, thus streamlining access to services and removing the need for multiple pieces of ID.

For new electric vehicle owners, Alberta’s EV tax is $200/year for each battery electric vehicle. It is collected at registration or renewal via registry agents or online. It ensures all drivers contribute fairly to funding essential provincial services. Some exemptions apply.
