Lifewater Canada is a volunteer-based charity inspired by Jesus that works to provide affordable water and sanitation projects for citizens of impoverished countries. Their goal is to ensure every person has access to clean water and sanitation, because it's a basic human right.

Lifewater provides the necessary equipment and volunteer experts travel overseas to build wells, handpumps, and water catchment systems, while simultaneously training locals to sustain the equipment Lifewater provides after it leaves communities. It also returns to communities to repair equipment that locals cannot fix. At the end of F2019, Lifewater’s projects were providing clean water for 244,000 people in Haiti and Sub-Saharan Africa.

Summer may be the season of fun, but it's also a great time to get involved in your community and give back. Here are 3 ways you can do that:

1. Volunteer at a local food bank, food pantry, or soup kitchen. You can even sign up as part of an organized group with your friends—here are some ideas for how you could get involved.

2. Start a lemonade stand, car wash, or bake sale to raise money for a cause you care about. You could also ask your family and friends to donate items they'd like to see go toward this purpose.

3. Host a neighborhood event that benefits charity—like a movie night where everyone brings their own snacks and drinks (or just asks people to bring donations).

The Alberta Wilderness Association (AWA) is a non-profit organization working to preserve Alberta’s wilderness, water, and wildlife since 1965.

AWA seeks protection for regions representing the province’s characteristic landscapes and advocates for the government to protect 17% of land by 2020.

It prioritizes six natural regions: Boreal Forest, Rockies, Canadian Shield, Grasslands, Foothills and Aspen Parkland. AWA believes that protecting the land also protects wildlife and freshwater habitats.

The Foundation grew from the passion and courage of one 6-year-old boy, Ryan Hreljac. Ryan was inspired to take action as a grade one student when he learned of the devastating consequences for people without access to safe drinking water. He was remarkably determined as he succeeded in rallying his community to help him raise the funds needed to build one well in Uganda, Africa - one well that has changed everything.

More than 20 years later, Ryan's Well Foundation is a team of people committed to providing access to safe water and sanitation as an essential way to improve lives in the developing world. They also educate people about the importance of accessing safe water and sanitation services and look to motivate people of all ages to take action and effect positive change in the world.

Ryan’s Well mission is the following; "Our vision is to build a more equitable world through clean water and sanitation, leaving each community we work with empowered and self-sufficient."
