✨ Another success. Another future secured.

Nothing is more satisfying than opening an email and seeing a Permanent Residency confirmation for one of our clients.

On April 2nd, we received an email confirming the finalization of a client’s PR application. His journey moved quickly his application was submitted on January 17th, 2026, and in less than three months, we received a positive decision. He was nominated by the Northwest Territories (NWT) and received his Invitation to Apply (ITA) under Express Entry.

For him, this email meant relief, hope, and the realization that he is now just one step away from becoming a Permanent Resident of Canada.

He is a young man in his 20s from a small town in Punjab, India, who came to Canada as an international student with a simple but powerful dream to build a better future and change the life of his family forever. Like many newcomers, his journey wasn’t easy, but his determination never wavered.

Canada has officially enacted Bill C-12, marking one of the most significant changes to its immigration framework in decades. This legislation grants the government expanded authority to pause, cancel, or terminate immigration applications and permits where deemed necessary in the public interest, including matters related to fraud, security, or public health.

A key development under this reform is the introduction of a strict one-year deadline for submitting asylum claims, along with new provisions that may render certain irregular border crossers ineligible. Notably, these measures will apply retroactively to claims made after June 2025.
The legislation also permits enhanced information sharing between government agencies, including potential disclosure to foreign entities. This has prompted important discussions regarding privacy, data protection, and oversight.

While some individuals may still pursue protection through a Pre-Removal Risk Assessment (PRRA), these changes are expected to impact a significant number of current and future applicants. A comprehensive parliamentary review of the legislation is anticipated within the next five years.

Another success story to share.

Spousal Open Work Permit and Study Permits Approved🎉🎉

The client’s husband was employed as a kitchen helper in Yellowknife on an employer-specific work permit. The family approached our office seeking assistance with study permit applications for their children. Under the current regulations, the spouse was not eligible for an open work permit, as the principal applicant’s occupation fell under TEER 5

Despite these limitations, the family’s priority was to remain together in Canada. After carefully assessing the circumstances, we proceeded with applications for both a spousal open work permit and study permits for the children.

We are pleased to share that both the spousal open work permit and the children’s study permits have been approved. The client expressed immense gratitude and emotion upon receiving the positive outcome, as it allows the family to stay united in Canada.

🇨🇦 IRCC has released its 2026–27 Departmental Plan.

It confirms plans to reintroduce CRS points for job offers, but in a revised format—focused on candidates with high-wage job offers and Canadian work experience.

IRCC is also exploring points for individuals certified in regulated professions.

These changes are still under development. Updates will follow.
