Well Hello Everyone. I do apologize that it's been such a long time since I've been able to post in here. Life has been crazy busy for me. I started working a different job, which I love, but it does take up a lot of my time. I do really love it though, so that is a bonus.

Life has been a little rough lately. My husband was laid off of his job, and has been having a difficult time finding work. I am remaining positive though and focusing on the blessings that are in our life.

My son is still doing amazing. 27 months clean of m**h and he**in. Can we say YEA!! I know I count my blessings for that every day! He has a full time job, and is excelling in it. He had a minor setback about a month ago, were his house was broken into and his truck stolen. He does have house and truck insurance.. thankfully he did listen to me! See parents, there is hope!! He is just waiting for the insurance company to finish what they have to do.

How has it been going for you?

I'm a member of a group that, to be honest, I do not want to be a member of. It's a group of addict's mom's. Reading the comments and the heartache that comes from these mom's is so hard to do, but at the same time, it's comforting. Yes, I said it. It's comforting, because you know you are not alone in the feelings and issues that you have. Having a support system, especially when going through som**hing such as addictions, can literally be a life savor. I personally don't know what I would have done without this group of ladies. They let me know that I am ok for having the thoughts that I was having, and that they themselves have had these thoughts. The idea is to know you are not alone. If you know someone who is struggling with a loved one with addictions, please let me know so that I can point them in a direction that could possibly help them. Support is so very important! Finally, just know, you are not alone in your hurt, frustration, anger, and fear!

I'm so fed up with seeing on my news feed about how Narcan is free and how .... insert whatever disease you want... has to be paid for. For your information Narcan or Naloxone are NOT free. You can get a free kit with training but when EMTS use it to save someone's life, they are charged just like anyone else using a life saving device. Second, Narcan is NOT a treatment. It is a life saving drug just the same as heart paddles are to someone who's heart has stopped. Treatment is treatment, which most of us parents who have or have had loved ones with addictions issues, have been fighting tooth and nail to get. At least you HAVE treatment at your immediate hands. Most addicts have to wait at minimum 3 to 6 MONTHS to go to treatment and end up relapsing or overdosing and dying. When you, insert illness, need treatment, you get it instantly and you aren't made out like a useless piece of s**t when you do seek help. Third, when you make insensitive comments such as this, you never know who on your feed has been suffering with addictions or who's family has been effected by addictions. It is so wrong to ever make it look like one life is more valuable or more important than another. Just because you don't understand the world of addictions doesn't give you a right to be an absolute ignorant prick and make someone feel like they are less important. You don't know their story! You don't know if they got addicted because some ignorant teacher or doctor said they had to be on Ritalin, Adderall, or Stratterra, or Viavan at a young age and exposed their undeveloped brain to m**h and prewired them to have to have the drug to be normal. What's normal? Or what if they have a disease like Fibromyalgia and we're given pain medication and became addicted? Or if they were in a car accident? Compassion and empathy for everyone suffering from an illness is what is right, not to compare and say one life is more important than another.

As a parent of an addict, if you had heard of som**hing that has worked for many people, wouldn't you be interested in hearing about it so that you could make an informed decision on if it is right for you and your loved one? I recently got into a disagreement with some admins on a parenting support group that I belong with when I answered some questions that they had regarding a specific treatment. I'm super frustrated right now, as I know that, given the right opportunity, that this could save lives. What do you think?

I have to say, with all the information and battles being fought in Alberta cities regarding Harm Reduction, I hope that people learn the true value of the safe injection sites. What do you think?

Please help me break the stigma associated to addictions. As a parent myself, I want to educate everyone on why some are addicts, and how we need to stop the blame game. What do you think we can do as a society to help break the stigma train and help our loved ones get the help that they need?
