🐧 Angry Penguin’s Wednesday Cyber Tip #12
🔐 Review User Accounts Regularly
The problem:
Do you know exactly who has access to your business systems right now?
Former employees, old contractors, unused accounts, and people who have changed roles can sometimes keep access long after they need it.
It's easy to overlook, especially when you're busy running a business.
What to do:
👥 Review your user accounts — Check who has access to your email, files, cloud applications, and other important systems.
🚪 Remove access when people leave — Make sure former employees and contractors no longer have access they don't need.
🔑 Check permissions — Make sure current employees only have the access required for their roles.
🔄 Make it a habit — Review accounts regularly and whenever someone changes roles or leaves the business.
Why it matters:
Every unnecessary account is another potential way into your business. Removing access that is no longer needed helps protect your information and reduces the risk of unauthorized access.
You wouldn't leave a former employee with a key to your office. The same principle applies to your digital business.
🔐 Know who's got the keys before someone uses them.
