I have a theory as to why companies don’t venture into export markets. First, that management wants to be heavily involved and this they have less time attend to daily operations, second, the understand that there will quite a new learning, especially with regards to cross cultural skills.
Business owners may rely staff who share a similar ancestry bu have significant experience living the country. Fourth, smaller companies can’t afford to dedicate staff to work on exports. Finally, midsized companies afford the large fees charged by global companies.

Hooray Canada,
On November 17 the Canadian government announced that Canada would seek a free trade agreement with ASEAN. This is great news. After many years of basically standing on the sidelines watching this massive regional market grow, Canada takes serious interest. Within ASEAN are country markets that small and midsize business can secure additional sales revenues. What a breakthrough.

Different cultures have different ways of learning mostly because the philosophers who influenced their thinking. Particularly,
Where intellectual pursuits and daily life is played out. And, even more so in our approach to science. Aristotle was the first to introduce induction theory better known as applications thinking first. British thinker such as Roger Bacon in the 13th and Francis Bacon in the 16th made popular what we call the scientific way of thought.
Quite different was the way of thinking to the French and Europeans. Theirs is more of a principled base approach. Rene Descartes for example preferred a process of principles first. He wanted to understand the deeper underlying principles, not just observation. Then, in the nineteenth century the German Friedrich Hegel introduced the dialectic. Such as presenting a the dialectic based on the models of observation. The dialect follows the pathway of a thesis or functional argument, then opposed by an antithesis or conflicting argument. Clear example of applications-first approach and the principles first approach. The British, Canadian and US legal system is based on common law where one judgement on a case sets precedent for rulings made in the future. European law is civil law which is a principles first approach. This means each cases is made on a case by case basis. Scandinavia uses a hybrid form of legal system that falls somewhere in the middle.
Having both of them in mind gives the business person the the time to set up parameters and understanding each other’s background before jumping reckless in coming to conclusions.

Having street addresses on buildings seems to be a thing of the past these days. In my city, unless you look really closely you have no idea the building is the one you’re looking for. Is this the same in your hometown? Do building designers avoid this? I really shouldn’t complain. Once in Busan, Korea I was told to go to specific place. What’s the street address I asked. The reply was that street addresses were rarely used. Except, for big office buildings and such. My next question was, how does the letter carrier know who lives in what building? Apparently, they just get to know this. Wow, I hope the letter carrier doesn’t suddenly get sick or quits. So, I shouldn’t complain too much. But for you architects out, could you make the street addresses bigger!
