If you ask people in the industry, they will always recommend starting with a sample before committing to a full bottle. As long as your note taking skills are good and the formula is legit I will be more than happy to make a bigger bucket :)
The only time I allowed someone to make a 30 ml bottle right away was when they were visiting Calgary from abroad and really loved their scent. Otherwise, yes, I want you to make sure you really like what you have created. And like it enough to go through the trouble of ordering it. Sustainability for the win!

Decay morphs into stillness. Two weeks until winter: passive aggressive rose (Crystalline Elegance), vinyl record (Analog Warmth - this one has a piece of my soul), cognac (Golden Decadence), and ash (Smoky Syntax). I previously called it ashes but singular feels less morbid.

Fine. FINE. You want vanilla? Here’s your vanilla.

Yes, it’s the most popular scent. Yes, it’s “universally agreeable.” Yes, vanilla actually makes your nose MORE receptive to other molecules (it’s literally a biochemical people-pleaser).

But if you’re going to make me blend another vanilla, at least let me make it INTERESTING. Dry vanilla. Indulgent vanilla. Smoky haunted vanilla for your Halloween situationship.

Basic vanilla lovers, I see you. Vanilla haters, I’m converting you whether you like it or not.

Seasonal transitions activate reflective mood states. The bittersweet feeling of impermanence, angst and melancholy is more likely to permeate the mood when you start seeing the decay. Pumpkin spice latte, mulled wine or a fine cup of tea can definitely add a bit of romanticism to the gloom.
We got you covered with the tea at the workshops (please don’t bring the former two!) Maybe a new scent can help with the rest of days when getting to work induces existential dread (ironically, I am yet to find one 😪)

Cooler air carries scent farther and with less background noise of sunscreen, sweat and pollen you can notice more nuance.
Melancholy aside: we have all of the materials mentioned but I never put them on the table unless explicitly requested. Spilling one of them would require immediate decontamination 🫣 1% geosmin is enough to turn a cozy place into a damp spooky basement.
Another side note: I still remember when one person at the session asked for scents along the lines of Co**se Bride (my loose interpretation). I LOVE challenges like these!

Core fall fragrance workshop schedule is officially out and running! (a few extra events will be introduced later)
Yesterday I begrudgingly blended another batch of damp leaves. Last time I made it, I was naively thinking it would suffice for the season but oh well 😅 The increasing usage rate is delightful though, the validation is real.
I’m taking suggestions for winter scent features - so far I have been thinking of the Vinyl Record accord.

Feature scent lineup for the fall! Based on my preliminary observations, we might get three camps: Firewood fans, Pumpkin friends and Damp Leaves supporters 😅 Which also makes me quietly happy because all three are my creations for the workshops. If you don’t love them let me know - I will take it personally (as any other smell-abled person 😁).
