My wife and I are slowly building a simple healthy career and life together while chasing big goals.
While there are many things to work on together, we are glad we could make one resolution - we go for a run/walk/hike/workout together in the morning before anything else starts no matter if we are traveling. We do a lot of travel for work around Alberta and BC. Small thing. But it’s not really about being active together.
It’s about something we learned building a life across two countries.
You cannot build any of it alone. And you cannot build it if you’re not moving at the same pace as your partner.
Some days I’m four steps ahead. Some days she is. That’s not the part that matters. What matters is that we wait for each other, and we build together instead of building separately and hoping it lines up later.
I became a CA. She became one too. She became a psychologist. I did too, in every way that counts outside the degree. We taught each other. We still push each other, every single day.
If you’re building a life with your partner, business, career, a home, across one country or two, don’t do it in parallel. Do it together. Push each other. Wait for each other when you need to.
It’s the same thing I tell clients working through decisions as a couple. The ones who move in step with each other are the ones who actually get there.
