JR - Yesterday my autistic son taught me yet another lesson - he explained that a black man had explained to him - that going black on our social media is not about posting our comments/thoughts but it’s about amplifying the voices of black leaders/people fighting against inequalities.

Black Lives Matter! Yes, even in the workplace
Excepts - piece below by
‘The truth is silence and inaction is just as damaging. You can’t spell ignorance without ignore - and I think those that are aware of issues but ignore are in the same camp as the ignorant.’

‘So continue to spread awareness, educate yourselves, make room for us at the table. And when the media moves onto another topic, make a conscious effort to continue the fight for racial equality.’

LinkedIn really looks like business as usual to me this afternoon. Talk about an echo chamber! Scrolling through my feed you’d think that the business world is an alternate reality to what is happening on the outside.

We all need to stand up for what is right. I won’t pretend that I can possibly understand what people of colour are experiencing right now or experience everyday. I have no words for all the overwhelming sadness that is happening but I want to say -
we have to do better - I see you -
I hear you

Today is
This event was brought forward to hopefully provide more impetus for folks to give to their favourite charities or local organizations helping folks during COVID19 relief efforts.

I decided to combine this fact with my attendance at the event hosted by
I ❤️ my bracelet - thank you 😊

There are so many people and organizations that I would like to give a to- but space is limited so picking the ones who have made the biggest impact in the life of my autistic son, our family and our community.

Firstly a giant thank you and to the staff at where my autistic son has been a patient for most of 2020. They are incredible even during this difficult time.

Women juggling with caregiving take brunt of pandemic labour
“As women take on greater care demands at home, their jobs will also be disproportionately affected by cuts and lay-offs. Such impacts risk rolling back the already fragile gains madein female labor force participation, limiting women’s ability to support themselves andtheir families, especially for female-headed households,” the UN wrote in a policy brief examining the impact of COVID-19 on women.

From academia to the service industry, women who are also caregivers are taking the brunt of the pandemic labour impact, with at least one economist saying broader childcare provisions need to be part of economic recovery.

We are in the process of taking a huge leap forward on the ‘Technology Adoption’ Timescale. Post COVID19 the world will be very different and we have the opportunity to embrace technology and enhance human capabilities. Freeing us up for tasks that require our attention.

We need take to the FEAR out of working alongside machines. For most folks ‘machines’ are currently ‘technology companions’ or algorithms on their devices.

The article below is talking about manufacturing but has great insight that is applicable across all industries

Couple excerpts
In addition to the distribution of knowledge, there will be an increased use of a technology companion that augments human intelligence,”
says Honeywell

“The improved comfort level also results in a thirst for broader applications. ..............When we have the opportunity to commit to building strategic offerings with other developers it benefits the entire ecosystem.”
