LandSolutions feels it important to support families and communities of First Nations, Metis and Inuit children that were forced to attend residential schools and recognize and reflect on the lasting impact it had on all Indigenous Peoples.

To honour them, our Canadian offices will be closed on Sept. 30 for the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and will re-open on Oct. 1

Here are some ways to show your support:

• Enroll in the University of Alberta’s Indigenous Canada course
• Participate in a potlach, drum ceremony or Powwow
• Read the Truth & Reconciliation Commission Report and the 94 calls to action
• Talk to your children and ask questions about what they are learning in school about Indigenous Peoples
• Wear Orange to help create awareness about residential school survivors and the affects these individuals, and their loved ones, are still experiencing today

We are pleased to announce Jason Gouw as Chief Operating Officer at Land Solutions. With over 25 years of experience, and a specialization in negotiation and building collaborative relationships, Jason is a vital member of our leadership team. He started with the company in 2018 as VP Land, Engagement and Regulatory with the environment division added to his accountabilities shortly after in 2019. During this time, Jason developed a high performing team generating positive results that is recognized across our business, and by our clients.

One of our core values is Growth. To be the best requires us to be constantly learning, improving and evolving, and to share those learnings with others. With this in mind LandSolutions and BRITT Land & Engagement have entered into a friendly challenge.

Currently, the University of Alberta is offering the course Indigenous Canada for free! From an Indigenous perspective, this course explores key issues facing Indigenous Peoples today from a historical and critical perspective highlighting national and local Indigenous-settler relations.

The challenge between our two companies is to encourage our teams to complete the course, the more who complete it the better. Both our companies are committed to supporting the advancement of Reconciliation for Indigenous People in Canada and recognize the importance of learning the history of Canadian Indigenous Peoples. We are thankful to U of A for offering this course and to the instructors/presenters who made it possible.
