Joining a BNI Chapter is exciting and offers more than the opportunity to get referred business each week. BNI is about so much more than Wednesday nights.

This week, a group of Knights—both current and alumni—got together to support one of our own at Christina Carter’s annual Stampede Party. 🤠

Events like this are a reminder that the best referrals don’t come from memorizing someone’s 45-second commercial. They come from genuinely getting to know people, understanding their business, and building real relationships.

Spending time outside of our weekly meetings gives us the opportunity to see what makes each member unique, learn more about how they serve their clients, and become even better at recognizing referral opportunities.

A huge thank you to Christina Carter of Delphi Private Wealth Management / Raymond James, for hosting such a fantastic event. It was a great afternoon filled with laughter, conversations, and a deeper understanding of how we can confidently connect the right people to her business.

That’s what BNI is all about—supporting each other, showing up, and helping one another grow… not just on Wednesday evenings, but every day of the week.

Last night, we said goodbye to one of the true characters of BNI Knights, David Royer from Dream Rocket Media.

Over the years, David has served our chapter in just about every way imaginable. From President to Membership Committee, LET Member, Visitor Host, and countless acts of service behind the scenes, he has always stepped up when the chapter needed him.

David is one of those people who makes a chapter better simply by being part of it. Creative, funny, supportive, and always willing to lend a hand, he’s built strong relationships throughout the chapter and has helped make Wednesday evenings something members genuinely look forward to.

Of course, no tribute to David would be complete without mentioning his legendary dad jokes. Some landed. Some didn’t. All were delivered with the confidence of a man who believed every one of them deserved a standing ovation.

Then there were his presentations.

Let’s just say they were unforgettable.

Whether they were brilliantly creative, completely unexpected, or occasionally flirting with the edge of what might be considered “BNI appropriate,” you never quite knew what was coming next. What you did know was that David would have the room laughing and talking about it long after the meeting ended.

And speaking of after the meeting, David was also the undisputed leader of the Dark Knights — our unofficial post-BNI gathering where business relationships became friendships, conversations continued long into the evening, and more than a few memories were made over the years.

David, thank you for your leadership, your service, your humour, and your friendship. Your impact on BNI Knights goes far beyond the roles you’ve held. You’ve helped shape the culture of this chapter and made it a better place for everyone who has had the chance to be part of it.

We wish you nothing but success in your next adventure. You’ll always have a seat at the Dark Knights table, and you’ll always be part of the Knights family.

Monday was one of those days that reminds you why community matters. ⛳

A few of us from BNI had the chance to participate in the Cerebral Palsy Alberta Golf Tournament, and it was a fantastic day. We enjoyed some friendly competition, a lot of laughs, and most importantly, helped support an organization that makes a real difference for individuals and families across Alberta.

One of the things we appreciate most about BNI is that it’s about more than just business. It’s about building relationships, supporting our community, and showing up when it matters. Monday was a great example of that.

The golf wasn’t perfect (at least not on our scorecard 😆), but the cause was. Seeing so many people come together to support Cerebral Palsy Alberta was pretty inspiring.

A big thank you to the organizers, volunteers, sponsors, and everyone who participated. You put on a great event and made a meaningful impact.

Tonight we’re celebrating Lloyd Hamshaw at BNI 👏

Lloyd was one of the founding members of our chapter 11 years ago, and honestly… there’s no way this group becomes what it is today without people like him involved from the very beginning.

One thing we have always appreciated about Lloyd is that his support didn’t stop when the meeting ended. He’s always been the kind of guy who lends a hand outside the room too… making introductions, checking in on people, helping where he can, and just genuinely wanting others to do well. That stuff matters alot.

And after 11 years of evening meetings, referrals, laughs, stories, and probably more Coke Zero than any doctor would recommend 😅… tonight we get a chance to say thank you properly.

We’re sad to see him leave BNI, but really grateful for everything he’s contributed over the years. Looking forward to celebrating him tonight with the chapter he helped build.

For 11 years, this chapter has been built on relationships, trust, referrals, support, and a whole lot of people showing up for each other week after week.
