Behind the scenes with Unique Soapstone Experiences.

We had the opportunity to capture the story behind this work led by Michael Emery, a sculptor and facilitator with more than two decades of experience in hands-on creative practices across educational, corporate, and community settings.

His approach is rooted in simple, accessible processes that invite people to slow down, focus, and create something tangible, regardless of prior experience. Through independent programs and partnerships with galleries, retreat centres, organizations, and tourism partners, Michael helps make creative experiences both meaningful and approachable.

Final visuals to come. Stay tuned.

Robyn recently attended the Employment Training and Business Information gathering hosted by the Siksika Employment Training Office, where community members came together to share ideas, build connections, and explore opportunities for business growth.

Planned by Hannah Owl Child and Michael Ferguson, the event brought together partners including Community Futures Treaty 7, Alberta Indian Investment Corporation (AAIC), and ATB. It offered a valuable opportunity to connect with both aspiring entrepreneurs and established business owners.

Elder Eileen Black opened the gathering in a good way and reminded everyone to be kind to themselves and to others. Her words set a thoughtful tone for the day and reflected the importance of community, respect, and support.

Sharing moments from our photoshoot with Airdrie Laundromat

What began as a search for a practical, sustainable business opportunity led Karla and Fil to purchase Airdrie Laundromat, a long-standing local business in Airdrie. Today, they’re helping customers reclaim valuable time through self-serve and drop-off laundry services, while building meaningful relationships with other small businesses.

We’re proud to support entrepreneurs with free services, including digital marketing and market research, as they grow their businesses with confidence.

What started as a practical need became a business built around time, service, and community.

During Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage (AAPI) Month, we are proud to spotlight Karla and Fil, who purchased Airdrie Laundromat and grew it into a business that helps customers reclaim valuable time while supporting other local businesses in the process.

Their journey shows how curiosity, action, and the right support can turn an unexpected idea into something sustainable. Business Link Alberta supported them through the digital marketing program and market research services.
