Today, Steel River Group is proud to announce a strategic partnership with Korland Inc., creating a unique Indigenous-owned cybersecurity capability built for the AI era.

Together, we are combining Indigenous leadership, trusted relationships, and frontline cybersecurity expertise to help protect critical infrastructure, Indigenous Nations, and Canadian organizations from a rapidly evolving threat landscape.

As AI accelerates cyber risk across every sector, this partnership delivers practical solutions in OT and IT security, incident response, AI governance, data sovereignty, training, and long-term capacity building.

This is about more than cybersecurity. It is about resilience, sovereignty, and ensuring Indigenous participation in one of the fastest-growing sectors in the world.

We look forward to helping organizations across Canada strengthen their defences and build for the future.

We’re proud to share a recent feature with SAY Magazine, where our founder and CEO, Trent Fequet, reflects on the early chapters of Steel River Group and how our approach has evolved.

From day one, Steel River was built to support meaningful Indigenous participation in major projects across Canada, not symbolic inclusion, but real involvement in decision-making, ownership, and long-term value creation.

As the company grew, a clear pattern emerged. The challenge was not access to opportunity, but readiness. Too often, Nations were brought in late, asked to respond rather than shape, within systems not designed with them in mind.
That realization shifted our focus.

Today, our work centers on strengthening governance, leadership alignment, and internal capacity, building the foundation required to not only access opportunity, but sustain it.

We’ve moved from scale to strength, from participation to ownership, and from transactional partnerships to long-term, equity-based relationships.

We’re grateful to SAY Magazine for the opportunity to reflect on this journey and the responsibility of building institutions meant to last.

The full story can be found on Page 6:

Innovation is often framed as disruption, reshaping the future. Growth is often measured in terms of scale and money. But what about innovations that conserve the memories of the past? What about measuring growth in terms of...
