We are pleased to share more upcoming travel plans.

After a busy and rewarding few months connecting with clients, partners, and industry professionals throughout Malaysia and Australia, we are excited to be heading to the United Kingdom very soon for the EAGE Annual Conference & Exhibition 2026 in Aberdeen.

From June 8–11, you can find the Sound QI team at Booth A1068 at the Conference, where we will be showcasing Maestro™ and sharing how our software, consulting services, and training programs help geoscientists gain deeper insights from their data and make more informed subsurface decisions.

Whether you are interested in learning more about Maestro, discussing a technical challenge, exploring our consulting services, or simply stopping by to say hello, we would be pleased to meet you. We will also have a few booth giveaways available throughout the event, so be sure to stop by and visit with the team.

We are pleased to share that the Sound QI team continues to grow, and that we have recently welcomed Jorge Reveron, PhD to our team.

Jorge joins Sound QI with more than 25 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, specializing in seismic interpretation, Quantitative Interpretation (QI), and rock physics. He holds a PhD in Geophysics, as well as an MSc in Reservoir Characterization.

Throughout his career, Jorge has held senior technical roles with organizations including Petróleos de Venezuela, Repsol, and Petronas. His work has contributed to reservoir studies, hydrocarbon discoveries, seismic shallow-hazards initiatives, and exploration projects around the world. He is also the author of more than 30 publications in leading geoscience journals and has served as an advisor on numerous bachelor's and master's theses.

Based in Malaysia, Jorge joins Sound QI as a Senior Geophysicist and will provide local QI services and technical advice for users of our Maestro software. This will help us further strengthen our relationships throughout Malaysia and the broader Southeast Asian region. Having a highly experienced geophysicist based within the region allows us to work more closely with clients, better understand local challenges, and provide an even higher level of technical support and collaboration.

Jorge's expertise focuses on maximizing the value of seismic data through rock physics, AVO analysis, seismic inversion, and integrated subsurface interpretation. He has consistently championed approaches that bring together multiple geoscience disciplines to improve reservoir characterization and support exploration and development decisions.

When asked why he chose to join Sound QI, Jorge shared:

“The opportunity to join the Sound QI team was a natural fit for me, both professionally and technically. I am excited to work with Dr. Carl Reine as part of a highly experienced team with broad industry experience. We will be supporting clients throughout Malaysia and the broader Southeast Asia region in solving complex subsurface challenges, and help further the growth of Maestro.

I look forward to applying my skills, industry knowledge, and experience in Quantitative Interpretation, rock physics, AVO, seismic inversion, and integrated reservoir characterization to help clients gain deeper insights from their data and make stronger technical and business decisions.”

We are excited to welcome Jorge to the Sound QI team.

We are pleased to share that the Sound QI team is growing, and that we have recently welcomed a new Software Developer.

Ken Henderson joins Sound QI with eight years of software development experience and a strong educational background in computer programming. Throughout his career, he has worked on a wide range of software projects, from enterprise software solutions to SaaS products to complex data systems and more, consistently demonstrating a passion for problem-solving, continuous learning, and building high-quality software.

Ken has joined our small but mighty development team and will be contributing to the continued development of Maestro, helping enhance existing functionality, develop new features, and deliver even greater value to our users.

When asked what he is most looking forward to, Ken shared:
“I'm so excited to be joining the Sound QI team and to have the opportunity to make real contributions to the software. Sound QI's tech is incredibly powerful — I'm fascinated by Maestro's awesome potential to glean valuable insights through novel methods of data interpretation. Learning about this software has really changed the way I look at data. I look forward to collaborating with the team, learning more about our users' challenges, and helping bring this amazing piece of software to the next level. Sound QI is pushing boundaries in the industry, and I'm thrilled to be a part of it!”

We are excited to have Ken as part of the team and look forward to the contributions he will make as we continue to grow and evolve Maestro.

And just like that, GeoConvention is over.

This is always one of our favourite events of the year — and if you know the Sound QI team well, you know that we attend a lot of events throughout the year.

Over the past few days, we had the opportunity to reconnect with many familiar faces, while also meeting new people from across the industry. Thank you to everyone who took the time to stop by our booth and chat with our team.

We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to the organizers of GeoConvention for once again hosting a world-class event. The amount of work required to coordinate this event, every year, is immense, and the attention to detail throughout the convention never goes unnoticed by our team.

To everyone who attended Felix Oghenekohwo’s presentation, we hope that you enjoyed it. Having seen the amount of work and preparation that went into this presentation over the past several months, it was rewarding for us to see it come to fruition.

Finally, if you connected with our team regarding follow-ups, demonstrations, conversations, or questions during the event, please allow us a few days to get full settled back in the office. We look forward to continuing those conversations soon.

The past couple of days have been a great opportunity to reconnect with familiar faces, meet new people from across the industry, and have some really interesting conversations along the way. We love seeing everyone

We also still have a few colouring books and pencil crayon sets available at the booth, so be sure to come and pick one up before the event ends, or before we run out!

A reminder that Sound QI’s Felix Oghenekohwo, PhD, ill be presenting at GeoConvention this week.

His presentation, A Flexible Framework for Controlled Time Alignment in Seismic Data Comparison, is scheduled for May 12 from 11:25–11:50 AM in Telus 101–102.

Presentation Abstract:

Accurate comparison of seismic data depends on proper time alignment, yet small timing differences introduced by acquisition conditions, processing choices, or subsurface changes are often treated as a minor preprocessing issue. This presentation introduces a flexible and transparent framework for seismic time alignment that combines conventional global correction with constrained local adjustments to address gradual, time-varying shifts. The objective is to align timing consistently without forcing waveform similarity, thereby preserving physically meaningful amplitude and shape differences. The approach is demonstrated using simple single-trace examples to build intuition, as well as selected field time-lapse data. An additional example illustrates how the same framework can be applied to synthetic-to-seismic matching in well-tie workflows. Overall, the work emphasizes time alignment as a first-order component of seismic data conditioning and provides a practical starting point that can be adapted to a wide range of seismic analysis applications.
