Spending time in the mountains gives us plenty of metaphors we use in our work, but more importantly, it provides a reset for our souls, teaches us to respect the land, our place within it, and the resilience of knowing we can get there ... one thoughtful step at a time.
Gratitude to my long-time collaborator and dear friend Angela who shows me over and over again that two minds are ten times better than one.
December 11 is International Mountain Day, and this year’s theme is “Women Move Mountains.” We thought it would be a good time to introduce you to two of the women behind House of Blue Skies Consulting.
Our CEO Dymphny Dronyk has specialized in conflict resolution, stakeholder and community engagement, corporate and crisis communication, and emergency preparedness for both corporate and non-profit sectors for more than 30 years. She has held management positions in municipal development and resource industry projects throughout Western Canada as well as the United States, and has extensive Alberta Energy Regulator (AER), BC Oil & Gas Commission (OGC), Canada Energy Regulator, and Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) knowledge and experience. She has a special interest in energy industry mediation and negotiation, is a Qualified Mediator and mentor on the Alberta Justice Civil Court mediation roster and has been a member of the Alternative Dispute Resolution Institute of Alberta (ADRIA) since 1999. Public Consultation during extremely controversial times resulted in interest-based mediation practices becoming embedded in the stakeholder engagement process and led to the development of innovative strategies such as Ambassador Training and Ombudsman programs for clients.
Angela Kublik, Strategy and Data Analysis Consultant, joined the team a year ago. Angela has played a leadership role in engagement initiatives focused on growth and change in rural and urban communities. As a public librarian, Angela has spent the past 20 years embedded in the community, working closely with municipal governments, funders, non-profits, and other key stakeholders to build better communities. She is a customer-focused leader with a track record of building relationships to move projects forward. She also brings considerable expertise in strategic planning, data analysis and reporting, documentation, and editing to our team.
We’ve been friends and co-conspirators on numerous projects for decades, including founding House of Blue Skies Publishing (blueskiespoetry.ca) and co-editing the bestselling poetry anthologies Writing the Land: Alberta Through its Poets and Home and Away: Alberta’s Finest Poets Muse on the Meaning of Home.
Here we’re pictured with Assiniboine Mountain in the background, a place close to Dymphny’s heart as her father’s work meant they spent summers at the Naiset Huts in Mount Assiniboine Provincial Park during her childhood.
