How much effort and training do you put in your employees!?
Can you be away for a few hours, days or weeks?!

• Arrive few minutes early, do not arrive too early, if you do, stay out of sight if possible.
Your 'too' early presence may put the interviewer under unnecessary pressure or awareness as they're probably getting ready for the booked time.
• Find your interview venue (if not known prior) before the interview date if you have enough notice or time. If not, leave home early to arrive at venue on time. Give yourself extra time to calm down after transit and probably perfect your last minutes. (I know this kind of contradicts the first point but do not stay noticable until about 5 -7 minutes before interview).
Now, some interviews don't mind interviewees coming too early but for someone whose calendar is packed, they want to do things on schedule. Again, you're not sure what category your interviewer belongs, so, I'll go with announcing my arrival few minutes to scheduled time even if I arrive early.
• Dress formal/ corporate except otherwise advised. Cool colours work. Do not combine flashy colours in dressing and make up. Very corporate is best for some organizations depending on the industry. Just a shirt and a pair of pants/ trousers or dress works for some others. (There are different looks of corporate, look that up)I have attached some pictures and a guideline I found on the internet as a guide.
Appear neat. Keep it simple. 'The saying says dress as you'd like to be addressed.
• Smile: Wear a smile while exchanging pleasantries.
During the interview, smile minimally. Concentrate on understanding the questions and conversations in order to have a good response.
I've heard a lot about how smiling helps you through an interview. Well! You'd better be smiling through the right answers.
Please! "know your stuff and dispense it clearly".
• Ask for a question repeat for better understanding if need be. It is ok to do that. Do not assume you know where the interviewer is coming from, if you are in doubt, ASK for a repeat or more clarity.

"JEANS OR NOT"?
Due to the controversy surrounding this point, I'd like to state that this is my opinion.
Do not show up for an interview dressed in 'JEANS'.
In conversation with people about this, some say it is culturally acceptable in some countries, others say it depends on the industry.
A few people have the opinion that it is safe to dress in Jeans to attend an interview if it's a position that doesn't require much skill e.g. Cleaning, housekeeping, labor work, handyman, one time contract for an event, unskilled basically...the list goes on.
However, where do you draw the line?
No matter how expensive your jeans is, what color it is, slightly or not ripped, I advise not to show up in it for an interview.
Some people might have gotten away with it, you may not.
You do not know what orientation your interviewer(s) has/have.
Play safe and dress appropriately. There are hundred other things you can wear.
Call me old school 🤦‍♀️🤷‍♂️.
Agree/disagree?

Getting ready for an interview:
In no particular order:
- Research the Organization. Research here means- read, learn, know, ask, interact about the Organization.
Go to the website of the organisation to:
• learn what they do,
• their History(a basic history should do),
• Know their Executives or Management,
• their Vision and Mission,
• their Core values.
• Any CSR they are involved with or in.
• Culture
- Read the job description again and again.
- Digest the Resume/CV you submitted really well. Just be sure you know what's in there and can defend it. If you aren't sure about somethings on your resume 🤷‍♂️, read up on it / learn about it.
- Know about the position you are being interviewed for really well. This is probably the most important. Be the Master in this area. It might make up for other areas you may fall short. Again, this depends on what the questions will be.
Some organizations will inform you about interview format, the interviewer and what to expect. This makes things a lot easier.
If you aren't sure what direction the interview will take, keep researching, keep reading, keep learning.

So, If you have applied for a job or are applying for jobs-
• "Expect a call" or some sort of Communication. Be ready! A number of people get called by a potential employer and they act like they didn't apply for a job or weren't expecting to be called. Your tone of response, sends a very strong message across already.
• Answer professionally (basically any call from an unknown number). Do not use words like yeah!, yay!, hmmm hmmm!. Choose your words consciously. An impression is made already by the first Communication.
• Do not say things like, oh yeah I did apply or which one are you guys?,I have applied to a lot of places. Listen very well as the caller would have introduced themselves at the start of the call and if you didn't get it. Ask nicely e.g. "could you please tell me what the name of your company is as I didn't catch it initially?"
• Speak clearly, ditch the accent.
• Grab a writing material as soon as you can. Write down as much details as you can get. Ask questions if not clear.
• Express your enthusiasm but do not sound or be over excited. You will not catch all the details.
• Remember to ask for the caller's details
• Thank them very much

Some employers contact potential employees via email.
Email communication can be easier and at the same time difficult...
Any ideas apart from the ones listed above to follow for email communication for a potential employment?

Job seeking?
I always advise that you keep yourself updated with current trends. E.g. interview questions/style.
If you have been at a job for a long time and look forward to moving on to other roles or positions (within or outside your Organization); New in an industry or location, go for an "INTERVIEW TEST".
It might be easier for someone attending interviews regularly to flaw one with much experience but not a way to convey his experiences which could be wrapped in an interview question.
This can be done by reading, watching videos, downloading possible interview questions and getting a friend or colleague to get you interviewed.
Basically getting yourself in the interviewee seat in preparation.
This is for those job seeking.
You can be called anytime for a quick telephone interview or face to face- higher possibility of this is if you are applying/looking within your Organization.

This is one topic that has come up a lot of times.
This is especially for applicants/ potential employees at the start of their career, those still trying out what will work for them/ what career path to follow or for those who want to change career path.
-There is absolutely nothing wrong with having multiple resumes (as long as they are properly written and objectives are clearly stated).
Some do this to align with the job descriptions of positions they are applying for.
-Save correctly and don't mismatch when the time to present it arrives.
Emphasis on not presenting the wrong resume especially for online applications as this depicts inattention to details. {having stated attention to details as a skill in the resume:-) }
-Take your time with preparing each one if you belong to this class. Read job descriptions properly before and after adjustments have been made.
- if you have done part of the job descriptions with different past employers, present your experience first.
Please feel free to share, join in the conversation, share your experiences/opinions.

This a very wide topic. Will try to touch on as many issues as possible.
The starting point for a job seeker is to prepare a good resume (or CV) as this is supposed to be the middle-man between the job seeker and the employer.
The resume is a representation of who you are and what you are applying for/ want from the Organization.
The first page or first few paragraphs should already give an employer an idea of what you have that the Organization requires.
Remember that there are other people applying for the same job or business.
Be specific and direct.
Recruiters are different and human, each have what they look out for but non beats a good and impressive resume.
What are you selling? Experience, Education/Qualification, Achievements?
Make this the catcher....to be continued in the coming posts.
Join in the conversation, leave a comment. Let's learn together.

Above is a short poem with the most powerful words.(Author unknown).
As the year draws to an end, how many of the goals you set at the start of the year(usual custom), have been achieved?!
Whatever goal or objective you intend to achieve, do it now!
Start planning now!
Make that move now!
Register for that course now!
Make that enquiry now!
Place that call now!
Apply for that grant or position now!
Take advantage of that opportunity now!
The best Time is now as the clock is ticking and will wait for no one.
Do not wait for a new year to set more goals you may not reach...
Do it now!!!

A whole lot of time and Resources will be saved if quality time is spent on developing the right policies Organizations should run by.
There is no region or location without some sort of Laws Employers and Employees can refer to.
Do your homework to avoid paying heavily for wrong policies.
