Fire Prevention Week 2026 is here! 🔥

This year’s theme,”Charge Into Fire Safety™: Safe Charging Is a Superpower!”, highlights the importance of safe charging habits for the lithium-ion batteries that power many of the devices we use every day, including phones, tablets, laptops, e-bikes, scooters, and power tools.

Be a charging safety superhero by following these simple tips:
🔋Use the charger and cord approved by the manufacturer to charge a device.
🔋Charge devices on hard, flat surfaces like a table, never on beds, couches, or under pillows.
🔋Unplug devices when they are fully charged.
🔋Stop using batteries or devices that become hot, swell, smoke, smell unusual, or make popping sounds.
🔋Charge larger items like e-bikes and scooters away from exits and combustible materials.
🔋When on a plane, keep your device where you can see it while charging.

The Residential Fire and Life Safety Program is designed to support residents by promoting working smoke and carbon monoxide alarms, sharing important fire safety information, and helping families develop safe emergency plans. Small actions can make a big difference when it comes to saving lives.
