Our team member, Zoie, traveled to Romania to assist during a Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) validation and verification audit. Carbon projects that are part of the VCS Program are required to undergo independent auditing to ensure compliance with program requirements. Zimmfor supports its clients throughout the project certification/ registration process.

Alexandra Shaw is one of our remote workers and has been with Zimmfor for over seven years. Alex has a B.Sc Earth and Ocean Sciences from the University of Victoria and is a recipient of the David Elliott Award for Technical & Professional Excellence. She specializes in generation of technical figures and maps, data acquisition and processing, and data quality control. At Zimmfor, Alex is responsible for GIS analysis and map production for carbon projects, certification and permitting projects; and creating management system documents. More recently, Alex has been working on management systems and certification initiatives related to safety and environment. Although Alex is our “Specialist, Management Services”, her skills and personability have her wanted in all departments – please, no fighting over Alex!

Alex grew up in Winnipeg, MB and Victoria, BC. Prior to starting at Zimmfor, she worked four years in the mineral resource sector on projects across North America. She also worked eight years with the Geological Survey of Canada conducting marine geology and hazard mapping while aboard Canadian Coast Guard scientific research vessels. Alex met her husband not long after he arrived from Ireland, and they now have 15 years of teaching each other Canadian and Irish customs. Alex shares the most Canadian/ Irish thing her and her husband ever did was drive across Ireland in a blizzard! Alex drove a manual car on the left side of the winding roads and learned how patient the Irish could be. Her passions include her family, enjoying an active lifestyle with her children (e.g., camping, cycling, hiking, swimming), and experiencing the world through travel. She also finds joy in the little things like a good book and delicious, healthy food.

Alex’s favourite part about Zimmfor is the forward-looking and compassionate leadership. She enjoys her dedicated, funny, and brilliant colleagues, the opportunities to stretch her mind, and the flexibility and support offered by Zimmfor that allows her to be present with her family.
