Salvage duty. 🌲 We’re out here recovering Western Red Cedar left behind from previous loggers’ operations. This stuff is legendary- Red Cedar can sit on the forest floor for over a century and still be prime timber due to its natural anti-rot properties. No waste, just incredible wood.

Thanks again for the great shots 💪

Although our team makes it look like it, commercial thinning isn't always easy!

While at work, operators navigate dense stands with limited space, all while protecting the trees that remain. Tight spacing, low-value fibre extraction, and high-value equipment operating in confined environments are just some of the challenges that are involved.

Terrain can add another layer of complexity: BC's steep slopes, limited road access, and dense forest structure demand careful planning and highly experienced crews. Our operators successfully adapt by:

- Adjusting cutting patterns in real time
- Positioning machines for optimal efficiency and safety
- Designing trail networks that minimise stand damage
- Maximizing log value according to client specifications.

We're proud to engage in forestry work at its most technical level — where skill and decision-making directly impact both productivity and environmental outcomes. 💪

🌲 At Integrated Ops, we're always thinking ahead on how to best manage BC's forests.

Most people know that when you look at tree rings, that 1 ring = 1 year of age. As trees grow, they compete with surrounding trees for sunlight (see tight rings near the red arrow). Thinning is a great way to reduce competition for light, and leave room for dominant trees to grow better, faster, and healthier.
