Do you know what a CSA Certification label or a Silver label is for?

If you are looking at purchasing a manufactured home or looking to have one built, you should have a basic level of understanding of the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) Certification and the Silver label.

A CSA Certification label is a mandatory approval label on all factory-made manufactured/mobile homes and is typically found at the front door. If the original label is lost or removed or if any of the electrical system has been altered then the building must be rectified to current standards and re-certified.

The CSA Label is created for mobile home manufacturers and sellers to be held accountable.The Safety Standards Act, Electrical Safety Regulation under Section 21 states that no one can sell a used manufactured home unless the electrical equipment meets certain standards and there must be a CSA label provided by the manufacturer or a Silver Sticker recertification done and approved by the provincial safety authority.

If a CSA Label is not available or an addition has been built on the home, the provincial safety authority must re-certify the structure. This recertification results in a Silver Label. If you have a CSA Certification then it is not necessary to also have a Silver Label & vice versa, if you have a Silver Label a CSA Certification is not necessary.
