What does professionalism look like to you?
What does ‘being’ professional really mean?

Sometimes it can be hard to find the words for it for our own industry, our own business or even our own actions, so instead think of a person outside of the travel industry and ask yourself what makes them a professional? What makes them the professional you need to solve your problems?

Last week on the podcast we talked about what it means to be a professional travel advisor. To listen, head over to The Art of Selling Travel Podcast anywhere you like to listen to podcasts and check out last weeks episode.

You spend your days creating unforgettable experiences for your clients.

But when was the last time you created space for yourself?

The truth is, you can't pour passion, creativity, and energy into your business from an empty tank.

Self-care isn't selfish.
It's what allows you to show up as the advisor, entrepreneur, and leader your clients need.

Because the best version of your business starts with the best version of you

The success of a group isn’t just about the numbers, it starts with the right partner.

Before launching a joint venture group, you need to understand your lead client's expectations, audience, and, most importantly, their level of commitment. The strongest partnerships are built on alignment, not assumptions.

That foundation can make the difference between a group that struggles and one that sells out.
Want to learn more about building successful, profitable groups?

Check out last week's podcast episode, then join us this July for our 3-day From Idea to Sold Out Groups training, where we'll walk you through every step of creating and filling your group.

Blocking space is often the easy part of selling a group.

The real challenge is choosing the right trip for the right audience, and creating messaging that makes people say, “I'm in!”

That's exactly what we'll be covering in our 3-day From Idea to Sold Out Groups workshop, happening July 14, 16.

You'll learn how to:
• Position your group for the right audience
• Attract qualified travelers who are ready to book
• Overcome objections before they become roadblocks
• Create an offer that's an easy "heck yes!"

If you're ready to turn your group idea into a sold-out success, comment GROUPS below and we'll send you the link to save your spot.

I hear this all the time.

Here’s what I want you to know, almost every single successful groups advisor has had this exact fear.

The fear doesn’t mean you’re not ready. It means you care.

Here’s what I want to shift for you: the goal isn’t to feel confident before you launch. Confidence doesn’t come first, confidence comes from ex*****on.

You don’t get confident and then build a great group.

You build a solid process, you follow it, and confidence shows up somewhere along the way.

The advisors who fill their groups consistently aren’t fearless.

They’re just working from a system that removes the guesswork.

They know who the group is for, how to price it, how to position it, and how to put it in front of the right people.

The fear gets quieter when you know what you’re doing.

Comment GROUPS below and I’ll send you details on my upcoming training where break down that framework step by step.

Trust is a cornerstone of business. In a world of AI skepticism and doubt are creeping in more and more each day.

To build a business people want to do business with, you need to Say what you mean and mean what you say.

What do you do in your business to create trust with your clients?

Hi, I'm Glenda.

I'm a business coach and international speaker for the travel industry, based in Alberta, Canada, working with travel advisors across North America and beyond.

After more than 20 years in the travel industry, I built Art of Selling Travel for one reason: there's no shortage of supplier content telling advisors what to sell, but almost no one talking honestly about the uncomfortable, hard stuff that actually goes into building a business.

The sales skills.

The mindset shifts.

The systems.

The decisions that make or break you.

Here's what I believe:

✦ Independent travel advisors are business owners, not employees, and your business deserves to be run like one.

✦ You're not just planning vacations. You're in sales, and sales is a skill that can be learned, sharpened, and owned.

✦ Your strongest asset in this ever-changing industry is your human edge. Your empathy, lived experience, and definitly your critical thinking. The ability to know that yes, technically you can drive that far in a day, but not with toddlers in the backseat or a senior who needs regular breaks. AI can't do that, but you can.

✦ I'm not a magic pill kind of coach. If you buy the coaching but don't do the work, you won't get the results. The magic only happens when intention meets action.

My ADHD is my superpower here. I learn by experimenting, trying, falling on my face, and figuring out what actually works (and what definitely doesn't). I bring all of that to my coaching so you don't have to learn every lesson the hard way, unless you really want to.

How I work with advisors:

🎙 The Art of Selling Travel Podcast (free, weekly)
✨ The Travel Advisor Success Studio (membership, coaching, training, community)
💬 1:1 coaching
🎤 Live events and speaking throughout the year
➕ Other workshops built around what advisors actually need

I'm fiercely protective of the advisors in my world. Everything I create is in service of your success.

Now I want to hear from you.
Drop a comment and tell me a bit about you and your travel business. Where are you based? How long have you been in the industry? What are you working on right now?

And if you haven't yet, come hang out on The Art of Selling Travel Podcast. New episodes drop weekly and if you need a link, just comment if you want it listen/watch on Apple, Spotify or YouTube.

If you’ve ever gotten a DM that started with “Hey Girl, It’s been a while, I’d love to share an amazing travel opportunity with you that I’ve been working on” or see a post that starts with “if you’ve ever wanted to become a travel agent and travel for free… my team is expanding”

Knowing the difference between an MLM and a genuine travel advisory business is important. Each with their own focus and intention.
Too often I hear of new to industry being taken in by things that others “sounded too good to be true” and don’t know how to get out.

Part one of the Host Agency Series , I shared the biggest red flags you need to watch out for when choosing your host agency.

Comment below where you want to listen (Apple, Spotify or YouTube) and we will send you the link.

You’ve got to get the details detailed.

Never sign a contract without reading (and completely understanding what it says and means)
Don’t make assumptions as to what something means. For example if they say we’ve got a great on-boarding process ask them what that looks like step by step.

It’s really easy for a host to say they’ve got a process but it’s another for them to have to own that process. Some hosts will tell you they hung the moon, yet when the reality sets in you’re already in a contractual agreement.

Ask questions during the interview (it’s a two way street)

If you want the link to this weeks episode let me know if you want it for Spotify, Apple or YouTube and I’ll grab it for you.
