With all the stressors we’ve gone through, and whatever else is going on in your life, we want to make sure we actually enjoy the holidays! Have fun, slow down to enjoy the moments, capture what really matters and let everything else role off your shoulders. Here are some things that can help.

- Reflect on what really matters to you over the holidays.
- Move. Get outside. Play.
- Connect a lot with people who light you up.
- Do what you loved to do over the holidays as a kid.

1. You can say no to holiday activities
2. Self reflect on emotions around grief
3. Honour old traditions and memories
4. Identify coping skills

Day 9! The Overwhelming Amount of Things to Do Before Year End

I absolutely LOVE the holiday season. The decorating, shopping, snow, lights, cheesy Christmas movies, all of it! But year after year, I feel like there is a balance of trying to enjoy it and the heavy weight of my ‘to do’ list.

I don’t mean to over simplify this, it is incredibly stressful. However, one of the best ways to manage this is to be self reflective and present in the moment. Whatever you are doing, be fully there. Anticipatory stress (stress where you are thinking of what lies ahead) is experienced both more profoundly and for longer periods of time.

Often with good intentions of saving money or having fun, Secret Santa can be the worst! Add an office setting, people you don’t know well, budgets, it can be such an unnecessary stressor.

Start with not buying anything wasteful. Novelty gifts are a thing of the past.

This holiday season could be the first time for many of you who are attending office gatherings. Maybe even one of the first times meeting co-workers or seeing people in a long time.

This is an opportunity for meaningful connection which we know is so good for your physical and mental health. There are some things we can do to bring people in, make them feel welcome and celebrate.

Before the party starts, be intentional about the invitations. Request any food allergies/preferences and give them a good idea of what they are getting into (dress, venue, expectations).
