The Greater Sudbury Police Services Youth Group had the honour of a Grandma and Constable Cheryl Kennelly joining us for Silent Communication. Even our very own facilitator Marcia took part wearing a few hats in today’s session. Wow! These participants are nailing these sessions and some found it harder than Blindman’s Adventure.

With these challenging times, we are happy to share with our community the Bezhgoogzhii Equine Program to promote healing. Our late Elder Hilda ba talked about the Bezhgoogzhii (horse) and how our spirits are blended when we come together—we know each other and feel our energies. Being with the horse is good for the person and good for the horse. Bezhgoogzhii, which translates to “one nail" combining all four, talks about the strength of the animal.

Yesterday’s session was “Blindman’s Adventure”, where the participants had to expand on trust, active listening and clearly communicate instructions to their partner to get through the obstacle courses safely. Even our volunteers had some fun! Well done everyone! Well done!

Wow! A fun filled day of happy faces for us at Reflections Equine Assisted Learning as these two groups of youths explored boundaries, developing trust, building leadership skills and communication. We are so grateful to have this opportunity to help develop these young lives into something grander than they ever thought they could be!! Thank you Ross Ranch, boarders who leased their ponies to us for the afternoon, our hard working volunteers, my co-facilitator and social worker, Marcia, and especially the parents who are supporting their children through these changes in their children’s mental health. Bravo Team REAL!
