Rubellite Energy Community Information Session:
Buffalo Lake Métis Settlement Council, Administration, and Consultation invite community members to attend an upcoming information session with Rubellite Energy at the BLMS Gym on March 26, 2026.
Rubellite will present its proposal to construct an access road and develop a wellsite west of BLMS, with plans to operate for approximately 25 years. Their initial proposal involves a road traveling through Traditional Lands where many BLMS members hunt, fish, and harvest medicines. This area is also currently part of our ongoing Wildlife Camera Monitoring Program.
Due to these concerns, an alternative route has been suggested. While the original route was proposed to come out by Bondiss Corner, a second and primary option for Rubellite would be to go straight south from the Amisk Lake area and tie into the Figure Lake access. The alternative would bring the road through the west side of the Settlement, avoiding the traditional land use areas and the wildlife monitoring program. Future Driling on Buffalo Lake Metis Settlement would align with this option.
Community members are encouraged to attend, learn more about the proposal, and ask questions.
