I look forward to the iconic Basin Food & Buyers Expo [ FABx ]] every year here in the it really fills my cup and gives me a chance to connect with all of my business friends and make new ones. This year I have teamed up with one of my business besties Jessica Piccinin for an honest, supportive session: when business goes wrong: sustaining ethical, and accountable responses in a time of crisis.

Failure and closures are a natural part of business, but nobody wants to talk about it. This year Jessica and I *will* be talking about it. We have each lost businesses and made some mistakes and we’re gonna share how that happened how we got through it and how it made us better business people. You will have the chance to share your experiences as well, on day, one of the basin, food and buyers expo. There will be a confessional box beside the coffee station so you can share some of your epic business mistakes as well.

If you haven’t grabbed your tickets yet, make sure that you do now. If you are involved in any way in food, beverage or agriculture in the Columbia basin, this is not to be missed. 🥰

On Thursday it was my pleasure to facilitate a BC Food & Beverage peer group in partnership with the legendary Kootenay Co-op

Kootenay Coop General Manager Amanda Viergin was an endless source of knowledge, showing us what successful brands at the co-op have in common, discussing common mistakes, giving tips about how to be a thoughtful vendor, pricing, and so much more. Our lucky attendees got a wealth of real time information. And did I mention that we got to eat like gods as well? 🧀

With another successful season of Kootenay Teen Chef Club winding down, being a part of the Basin Food & Buyers Expo [ FABx ]] team this year (!!!), planning my Basin Food session with one of my favourite business besties Jessica Piccinin squeezing in as much camping as possible (and seeing signs for beaches I’d never go to 😉) food road trips with my amazing friend Heather Gallamore and getting ready for my BC Food & Beverage peer group with Kootenay Co-op next week this summer went by so fast! Bring on cooler temperatures and cosy soup + sweater weather.
