Thank you for celebrating Community Futures Week with us!

Last week, we celebrated the entrepreneurs, businesses, people, partnerships, and communities that make rural Ontario strong, and highlighted the locally driven support helping them move forward.

A special thank you to everyone who participated, joined our webinars, and helped shine a spotlight on the impact of the Community Futures Program across Ontario.

While Community Futures Week 2026 may be over, the work continues every day in communities across the province.

Investing in local businesses means investing in the future of rural communities.

In 2025-2026, $99.7 million was invested in loans delivered through the Community Futures Program across Ontario, helping entrepreneurs start, grow, and strengthen their businesses.

Behind that investment are local businesses pursuing new opportunities, creating jobs, and contributing to the communities they call home.

During Community Futures Week, we’re celebrating the impact of locally delivered financing and the entrepreneurs putting those investments to work across rural Ontario.

Strong businesses help build strong communities, and strong communities help rural Ontario thrive.

Across Ontario, Community Futures organizations work alongside entrepreneurs at every stage of the business journey, providing local guidance, financing, and resources that respond to the needs and opportunities of their communities.

That support extends beyond individual businesses. Community Futures organizations also work with municipalities, community organizations, economic development partners, and others on initiatives that strengthen local economies and create new opportunities.

During Community Futures Week, we’re celebrating the businesses, partnerships, and communities contributing to a stronger rural Ontario.

Behind every business is a story, and sometimes the right support can make all the difference.

Entrepreneurs supported by the Community Futures Program through Lake of the Woods Business Incentive Corporation (LOWBIC) share what that support has meant to them, from accessing financing and refinancing to having a local partner they could turn to as they started, grew, and took the next step with their businesses.

For these entrepreneurs, Community Futures was about more than financing. It was about having access to local people, programming, and resources invested in seeing their businesses grow and succeed.

During Community Futures Week, we’re celebrating stories like these and the locally driven support helping entrepreneurs build and grow businesses in communities across Ontario.

Local knowledge. Local decisions. National support.

That’s what makes the Community Futures model unique.

Community Futures organizations are rooted in the communities they serve. Local staff and volunteer boards understand their communities, local economies, and the realities of doing business in rural Ontario, helping ensure support reflects local needs and opportunities.

At the same time, they’re part of a national network supporting rural communities across Canada.

During Community Futures Week, we’re celebrating what this model makes possible: local ideas, local leadership, and local businesses supported by a network that reaches across Ontario and Canada.
