♻️ Recyclable of the Month: Candy Wrappers! 🍬

Halloween is here, which means lots of treats and lots of wrappers! But before you toss them in the garbage, here's something you might not know. 👀

✅ Candy wrappers CAN go in your blue bin!

As of 2026, candy wrappers are accepted as part of Ontario's updated residential recycling program.

A few reminders:
🍬 Empty the wrapper of any leftover candy.
♻️ Place it loose in your blue bin, not inside a bag.
🚫 Don't let those wrappers go to waste in the garbage!

🧴 RECYCLABLE OF THE MONTH: DEODORANT

Yep, your empty deodorant container can go in your recycling bin! ♻️

Whether it’s a stick, roll-on or spray, it’s accepted in residential recycling in Ontario. Just make sure it’s completely empty before it goes in the bin.

So when you finish the last swipe, roll or spray, don’t toss it in the garbage. Recycle it!

Have a recyclable item you’re not sure about? If in doubt, leave it out!

🚨 Most UNwanted: Food Waste 🚨

This month’s Most UNwanted items are something we all have in the kitchen: food scraps! 🍎🥦🍌

Food waste does not belong in your recycling bin. It belongs in your compost/green bin!

That includes things like:
🍌 Fruit and vegetable scraps
🍗 Meat, bones and fish
🥚 Eggshells
🍞 Bread, pasta and other leftovers
☕ Coffee grounds and filters
🧀 Dairy products
🍂 Food-soiled paper towels and napkins

When food waste ends up in the recycling, it can contaminate otherwise recyclable materials and make our job a whole lot harder.

When in doubt, leave it out. Help us keep food where it belongs: in the green bin, not the recycling bin! ♻️🌱

♻️ DID YOU KNOW?

Got old electronics taking up space at home? 💻📺🔌

We collect electronic waste (e-waste) at our facility in Huron Park, making it easy to keep unwanted electronics out of the landfill and get them into the proper recycling stream.

The rule of thumb is simple:

👉 Anything with a plug or cord that uses power, plus related accessories.

Check out the list below to see what we accept, and bring your unwanted electronics to us for recycling!

♻️ Recycle it. Don't landfill it.

♻️ Recyclable of the Month!

Did you know that cartons are now accepted in your household recycling? They’re one of the items added to the residential recycling program in January, so you may have been throwing them in the garbage without realizing they belong in your blue bin!

🌟 This month's Recyclable of the Month: Cartons!

Milk and juice cartons, coffee creamer cartons, soup and broth cartons, and other food and beverage cartons can now go in your recycling bin.

Just make sure they're empty and free of food residue, and keep the lids on. Flattening them can also help save space in your bin.

Follow along each month to discover more unexpected recyclables and make the most of your recycling program. You might be surprised by what belongs in the bin! ♻️
