♻️ DID YOU KNOW?

Got old electronics taking up space at home? 💻📺🔌

We collect electronic waste (e-waste) at our facility in Huron Park, making it easy to keep unwanted electronics out of the landfill and get them into the proper recycling stream.

The rule of thumb is simple:

👉 Anything with a plug or cord that uses power, plus related accessories.

Check out the list below to see what we accept, and bring your unwanted electronics to us for recycling!

♻️ Recycle it. Don't landfill it.

♻️ Recyclable of the Month!

Did you know that cartons are now accepted in your household recycling? They’re one of the items added to the residential recycling program in January, so you may have been throwing them in the garbage without realizing they belong in your blue bin!

🌟 This month's Recyclable of the Month: Cartons!

Milk and juice cartons, coffee creamer cartons, soup and broth cartons, and other food and beverage cartons can now go in your recycling bin.

Just make sure they're empty and free of food residue, and keep the lids on. Flattening them can also help save space in your bin.

Follow along each month to discover more unexpected recyclables and make the most of your recycling program. You might be surprised by what belongs in the bin! ♻️

🚫 Most UNwanted: Wood 🚫

This month’s recycling troublemaker is something we’ve been seeing more and more of lately: wood. 🪵

Scrap lumber, broken furniture, old shelving, and other wood items are common things we are seeing in recycling bins, but they don’t belong there. These items can’t be processed with regular recyclables and can cause problems at our sorting facility.

Before tossing that old piece of wood into your recycling container, check if there’s another option available in your community, such as a reuse opportunity, drop-off location, or disposal program for bulky materials. A little extra effort helps keep our recycling program running safely and efficiently. ♻️

Help us keep wood out of the recycling bin and save that space for the items we can actually recycle!

We are proud to celebrate Lisa Milam and her well-deserved recognition as a recipient of this year’s Women in Waste Spotlight! ♻️

After an incredible 30-year career with Bluewater Recycling Association, Lisa retired in February 2026, leaving behind a legacy that will be felt for years to come.

Lisa has been a familiar and trusted face at our Material Recovery Facility, bringing dedication, expertise, and a commitment to doing things the right way every single day. Her deep knowledge of our operations, willingness to embrace change, and ability to solve challenges as they arose made her an invaluable member of our team.

Beyond her technical skills, Lisa was a mentor, a leader, and someone her coworkers could always count on. She shared her knowledge freely, supported those around her, and played an important role in building the strong team we have today.

From helping guide our transition to commercial recycling operations to mentoring the next generation of employees, Lisa’s impact on BRA goes far beyond the equipment she operated. She helped shape our workplace and contributed to the success of our recycling operations in countless ways.

Congratulations, Lisa, on this well-deserved honour! We are incredibly proud of everything you accomplished during your 30 years with us and we are grateful for the dedication, professionalism, and positivity you brought to our team.

We wish you all the best in this next chapter of retirement! 💚

🚫 Most UNwanted: Diapers! 🚫

Whether they're clean or used, diapers do NOT belong in your recycling bin. While they contain some paper and plastic, they're made from a mix of materials that can't be separated during the recycling process. They also contaminate other recyclables, making them harder to recycle.

✅ Where should they go?
Place all diapers, wipes, and other sanitary products in your garbage.

Every item placed in the right bin helps keep our recycling system working efficiently and keeps valuable materials out of the landfill.

Thanks for doing your part to recycle right! ♻️

♻️ Introducing our new series: Recyclable of the Month!

Did you know that many new items were added to our residential recycling program in January? There are probably a few things in your home that you didn't realize can now go in your recycling bin.

Each month, we'll spotlight a different item that might surprise you and help make recycling a little easier.

🌟 This month's Recyclable of the Month: Chip Bags!

Empty chip bags are now accepted in your household recycling. Just make sure they're empty, then toss them in your recycling bin instead of the garbage.

Follow along each month to discover more unexpected recyclables and make the most of your recycling program. You might be surprised by what belongs in the bin!

🚛♻️ A quick reminder about wheelie bin placement!

For everyone’s safety (and to help our drivers do their job efficiently), please place your bins:
✅ At least 3 feet apart from each other
✅ Away from vehicles, mailboxes, fences, and walls
✅ With nothing hidden behind them

When bins are too close together or up against objects, our drivers can’t always see what’s around them, which creates safety risks and delays collection.

👉 Next pickup, take a quick moment to double check your bin placement — a little extra space makes a big difference!

Thanks for helping us keep collection safe and smooth for everyone. 💚
