The Charlie Lake Fire Department is pleased to announce two well-earned promotions that took place last night.

• Lieutenant Pelley has been promoted to the rank of Captain and will be assigned to a new platoon in the new year.

• Firefighter Bies has been promoted to Lieutenant/Training Officer and will be joining a new platoon upon completion of his Fireground Command training.

These promotions reflect their dedication, leadership and commitment to serving our department and community.

Please join us in congratulating both members on their achievements and in thanking them for stepping up to take on these important leadership roles. Congratulations, Captain Pelley and Lieutenant Bies! We wish you both continued success in your new positions.

Charlie Lake Fire Department flags are lowered to half-mast today in remembrance of those who have fallen.

We remember their sacrifice, remember their families and loved ones and carry their legacy with us. We will never forget.

Another CLFD crew has been deployed to assist with the fire complexes in Merritt. Capt. James Adams and Lt. Matt Adams (brothers) left early this morning to start their 14-day shift, relieving the 1st crew from their recent tour of duty.

This will be the first and last deployment that the Adams Brothers will do together as members of the Charlie Lake Fire Department. A rare and special occasion to say the least!

After completing this tour, Capt. Adams will be leaving the CLFD with 16 years of dedicated service to the community of Charlie Lake and area. He, and his family, will be moving on to start another great adventure with a job opportunity in Terrace, BC.

Thank you, Captain Adams, for your hard work and commitment in serving Charlie Lake and the PRRD.

We wish both Captain Adams and Lieutenant Adams a safe and memorable tour of duty while they serve our province together.

August is shaping up to be a busy month here at CLFD!

Our crews are hard at work practicing rescue training, completing our annual hose testing and hosting community firehall tours—all while our newest recruit class kicks into full swing.

On August 8th, 2026, the Charlie Lake Fire Department proudly answered the call from BC Wildfire Service, deploying Tactical Tender 1 and two dedicated firefighters to help battle wildfires in southern BC.

Lt. Chris Pelley and Lt. Miranda Moineau are embarking on a 14-day mission to support communities in need.

🚒 BIG NEWS FOR FIREFIGHTER SAFETY! 🚒

Last night at training, the Charlie Lake Fire Department officially placed our brand-new order of PFAS-Free Turnout Gear into service!

This is a big milestone for our department, and it’s been a long time coming. From the initial spark of an idea, to securing the necessary funding, ordering the custom-fitted gear and finally taking delivery.

PFAS are often called "forever chemicals" because they stick around for a long time in the environment and the human body.

We're thrilled to push this health and safety initiative forward, ensuring our crew has the absolute best protection while they protect our community. 🔥
