**🚨 Important Immigration Update from IRCC 🚨**

As of August 28, 2024, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has ended the temporary public policy that allowed visitors in Canada to apply for a work permit from within the country. This policy, introduced in August 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic, provided flexibility for visitors who could not leave Canada due to travel restrictions.

**Key Changes to Note:**

🔹 **Policy Expiry:** The policy was initially set to expire on February 28, 2025, but has been terminated effective immediately.

🔹 **Who Was Affected?** Under the temporary policy, visitors could apply for a work permit without leaving Canada. Foreign nationals who had held a work permit in the previous 12 months and changed their status to “visitor” could also apply to work while waiting for a decision on their new work permit application.

🔹 **Reasons for Ending the Policy:** The policy is being terminated to recalibrate the number of temporary residents in Canada and maintain the integrity of the immigration system. There were concerns that some were using the policy to mislead foreign nationals into unauthorized work.

🔹 **Application Processing:** IRCC will continue processing applications submitted before August 28, 2024, under the previous policy guidelines.

🚨 Major Update: Changes to the Temporary Foreign Worker Program! 🇨🇦

Starting September 26, 2024, Canada is rolling out new regulations to boost opportunities for local workers and reduce dependence on temporary foreign labor.

🍁 Key Changes:

No LMIA processing for the Low-Wage stream in areas with unemployment rates of 6%+.
Employers can only have up to 10% of their workforce as TFWs.
Low-wage TFWs can now only work for a maximum of one year.
🌟 Critical sectors like agriculture, healthcare, and construction are exempt from these changes.
