As business owners, we generally enjoy every customer we work with and every project that we work on. But every now and then, one comes along that is just a bit closer to your heart for one reason or another. For me, one such project was a book that we recently printed for a noted Christian evangelist and author.
Leighton Ford grew up in Chatham, Ontario (where our shop is located). He spent many years working closely with Billy Graham, and later established Leighton Ford Ministries, an organization aimed at developing emerging leaders. He and his wife Jean (who was Billy Graham's younger sister) have resided in Charlotte, NC for many years.
Unfortunately, Leighton lost his dear Jean early last year. He wanted to write a book dedicated to her life and witness and enlisted his friend Ken Garfield to help. Through a series of connections (including my friend and fellow printer, Ben Travis), Ken and I were put in touch with one another. Even though there were some 'geographical barriers,' I offered to produce the books for them, and Leighton was delighted that his book could be printed by a shop in his hometown.
We recently shipped the first few copies of the book and Ken shared this photo of Leighton seeing them for the first time.
Everything about this project has been special, and I'm delighted to have had a small part in making it happen.
