Alpine Refrigeration is in the June 2026 issue of Heat Pump Journal! 📰

We’re proud to be featured in HPJ’s Project Profile. The story covers our work on the cooling and HVAC retrofits at Albert McMahon Elementary and Christine Morrison Elementary in Mission, BC.

The cooling systems at both schools were 30 years old and at the end of their life. Working with InnoReflection Engineering, Tri-Metal Fabricators and Mission Public Schools, our team installed Fujitsu VRF heat pumps that tie into the schools’ existing air handlers. That meant no major reconstruction. The schools got high-efficiency comfort, less water waste, and heat pumps that now cover up to 95% of the air handlers’ preheat.

Brazing is where a refrigeration system is won or lost. The copper has to reach temperature, the filler has to flow in on its own, and the joint has to be clean when it cools. Get it wrong and nothing happens — not today, anyway. It shows up months later as a slow refrigerant leak, and that leak is the number one reason compressors burn out.

That’s why we don’t rush this part. A few extra minutes at the torch is the difference between a system that runs for five years and one that runs for fifteen.
